Hello

I had a FET with a 5day blastocyst. I am 7W+2 today.

My acupuncturist advised me to speak to my clinic to start Heparin and Aspirin which I started 11 days ago (I had 2 natural pregnancies that ended in a miscarriage and 1 FET previously did not show an embryo on the 7 week scan) that was around 5W5D. Not been investigated why I had recurrent miscarriages but felt since this is my last embryo to start Heparin in case clotting is the issue)

I do the enoxaparin injections in the evenings, this morning I saw a big bruise on the site of last night's injection it still feel a bit slightly stingy and tender if I touch it.

I tend to have small dot like bruise where the needle goes in usually but not like this one, this one is a big bruise around the area. Is it because I have been doing it for 11 nights now? (I alternate sides each night) Is this normal? Is it dangerous? if not is there is any tips you can give me please so it won't bruise.

Is it still okay to use that site?

Thank you for anyone's input. xxx

I’ve been on blood thinners since 28 weeks, now 34 weeks. I bruised pretty badly or so I thought in the first few weeks. This has eased hugely.
I did mention bruising to my midwife as I didn’t have any bruising with my IVF meds. She looked and advised the bruising I had was normal and not severe - looking at it now it wasnt bad it’s just I wasn’t used to bruising at all on injections. She said they look for people with large areas which are dark red/black bruising. In this instance they will reduce the dosage given.
Can you call your clinic to clarify?

@SH998 Thank you. I will call on Monday. I would have to inject on the same site this weekend (left abdomen) because my right abdomen is very bruised. Can I share a picture please?

Some times this can happen if there was any of the medicine on the tip of the needle as it passed through the skin, either because you'd squeezed the plunger a little before injecting or withdrawn the needle too quickly and brought some of the medicine to the surface, sometimes it just happens that you catch a muscle and get a bigger bruise. If you need to use the same side chose a spot as far from yesterdays as possible.

@AltitudeCheck Thank you very much.

Just don't know where to inject now as it cover quite a bit I wonder if it is ok to inject nearer the waist like the waist handle side?

Hey, ive been on enoxaparin since 12 weeks. I have had a few absolute whopper bruises - covering huge amounts of my stomach! I have checked with midwives and they were not concerned (although please do check if you are worried).

you should be fine to go further round to the side - this is what I do, and I actually often prefer this now as my bump has got bigger it’s the best place to get a good pinch! I find the better the pinch the less likely I am to brusie.

other top tip would just be to take your time and not go to fast.

good luck with it all x

@mrsmb03 you can share a photo if you wish, I can’t advise any other areas sorry as I was only told this specific area. As your belly gets bigger it does get harder as there’s less fat and more firm skin. However mine has now stopped bruising so that’s a bonus, I do still have stinging days though lol
