Changing job in NHS while pregnant

Hi everyone, I've worked for the NHS for 3.5 years my current trust for 2.5 years. I'm currently very early pregnant (4 weeks). My current position haven't been very supportive since having my first baby in 2022 and have stopped me from progressing because of this. I've seen an amazing opportunity to study at masters level within the same trust. Has anyone changed jobs within the same trust while pregnant? Will I still be entitled to my maternity pay as it's still continuous service?

Hi. I’m a ward manager in the nhs. Yes you would because it’s continuous in the nhs, even more so if it’s the same trust. Go for it you have nothing to loose. I’m sorry you have been treated the way you have

If you wanted to double check if you get your trusts maternity leave policy out it should be in black and white in there

Yes, within the same trust it’s very straightforward. Good luck.

I would give HR/payroll a call and ask. I called them a few times across my pregnancy without disclosing my name for advice and they were really helpful.

All the info you need will be in your trust's mat leave policy. As far as I'm aware, you'll be absolutely fine with no gap in service and especially within the same trust.

Hi everyone, just a little update. Thank you for all the advice. I did apply for the job and had an offer. Unfortunately when I disclosed I was pregnant they have said they need to speak to HR and may withdraw the offer. So back in limbo for now

I'm fairly certain that it would be illegal for them to withdraw the offer based on you being pregnant. Check with ACAS/pregnant then screwed if you wanted to challenge their decision.

Would this be the case if it was a verbal offer? They called me to offer the job and I accepted then informed them so I've had no written offer
