Thoughts on sterilisation and will they do this during a c section

I'm looking into having my tubes tied and wondering if this would be possible during my elective c section, has anyone ever had this done and what was your experience?

My only issue is I'm not sure how easy it will be to get the Dr to agree as I'm only 30 but this will be second child and my husband has an older son. I'll have one of each and certain that I'm definitely done at two, this pregnancy has also been a bit rough with bleeding which I know would cause me so much anxiety if I were to get pregnant again as I would just waiting to bleed.
Even if for whatever reason I ended up with a different partner in a few years (which I'm 100% sure won't happen but I know they use this as a reason) I wouldn't be interested in having more children just because I'm with someone else.

Has anyone been through this and have any advice, should I wait and go back on the coil, or go down the route of my husband having a vasectomy which he is up for doing but I'm worried about how it's not 100% effective.

Also those that have had their tubes tied, did you experience any hormonal changes because of it?

Hi,
I had mine done at time of 3rd C-section.
it did seem to make the recovery a little harder than the first 2 times, especially the amount of gas in me causing shoulder tip pain that first night post op.

But not too bad really apart from that, it makes sense to get both ops done at once doesn’t it.

@Summergarden that's what I'm thinking whilst I'm opened up and recovering anyway, my husband has his own business which is manual labour so financially wouldn't make sense for him to be laid up with a vasectomy that might not even be 100% anyway!

I got sterilised when I had my second and I am early 30s. I just asked at my consultant appt and she agreed no problem. I had to confirm again on the day that I wanted to still go ahead I did. I didn’t find much difference In the recovery other than having the shoulder pain for a day ! Vasectomy does have a higher success rate btw and is a much less invasive procedure.

Everyone at the hospital was very keen to do this for me. However I didn't have a C section. So it's definitely possible

My sister had this done during her 2nd C-section aged 35. A third pregnancy could have been dangerous for her. She discussed it all with her consultant ahead of the birth and they were very happy to do it and agreed it was a sensible route to take. I'm not aware of her experiencing any issues - in fact her recovery was better than after the first one. I think she's relieved she had it all done and sorted there and then.

I was sterilised at 25 after birth of 3rd child.
