Hello,

What were 3 things which helped you recover from your C section please?

I'd like to put together a parcel of some things for my sister-in-law who is booked in for the end of the month for a C-section and was just wondering if there was anything that helped? whether teas/painkillers/creams etc etc. Anything small which might make things easier!!

Any other practical advice would be most welcome!

Many thanks.

@mynameiscalypso I failed that one! Half asleep didn’t read it properly…

A breastfeeding pillow.
A lovely soft but not too heavy dressing gown was the best thing I got. I still love it!
A nice reusable water bottle that's quite big.

Those all make nice and useful gifts
Other things I found helpful was a stocked nappy caddy and foldable mat so I could have an upstairs and a downstairs changing station at standing level.
Sheet face masks also were a nice way to do a little self care but still be hands free.

Bluetooth headphones saved my sanity during night feeding so i could watch things on my phone but not have cords getting in the way.

Truthfully though, prepping a few meals for their freezer, offering to babysit baby in their home so mum can shower or nap or for you to offer to call round and do a bit of light cleaning/hoover/ laundry etc would be super supportive if you're local enough to do it. Also respecting and being 100% supportive of her choices re: visiting, holding baby, babysitting etc goes a long long way.

thanks everyone!
so many fantastic ideas here!
I see “Big Pants” are definitely a recurring theme 😂
Unfortunately I am at the opposite end of the country and so won’t be able to help out in person. They also have very little in the way of family help… so will be pretty much on their own.
I’m going to make a list.
thanks again
