Hi which Vitamin D drops did you/will you use for baby?

Do we give them the drops from newborn?

If EFB they don't need any.. they get everything from you.

P.S that's if you're taking Vit D.. that's all they need in UK.

I just saw on the NHS website that breastfed babies do still need Vitamin D, it is only formula that is fortified with enough Vitamin D.

So just wondering what brand/make people chose?

"The Department of Health and Social Care recommends:

  • Babies from birth to 1 year of age who are being breastfed should be given a daily supplement containing 8.5 to 10 micrograms of vitamin D to make sure they get enough. This is whether or not you're taking a supplement containing vitamin D yourself."

D drops were the best for us. Only one tiny drop so makes it easier.

I believe babies who are EBF do need the vitamin D supplement, despite getting their nutrients from you.
We used the D-drops. We started with combi feeding and once we moved to EBF at a few weeks old the health visitor said we must give the vitamin D.

You’re right to ask. Just drop the D drops onto your nipple before feeding

We used the well baby ones. It’s a pain sometimes remembering to use them, but they were fairly straightforward!

I chose these d drops as they were the simplest formula with only one other natural excipient .

As I understand it, if a baby is EBF and Mum is taking high dose Vitamin D (4000 UI / 100 mcg), the baby should be getting enough Vitamin D though their milk. Have just checked my supplements though and this means I should be taking two tablets a day!
