Can't sleep on side

Currently 24 weeks pregnant with our rainbow baby!

I know that from 28 weeks the NHS recommend sleeping on a side (ideally left).

However I am and always have been a firm back sleeper! I find that I get really twitchy and uncomfortable when I'm on my side - I get really bad restless legs anyway and this seems to be worsened.

I just cannot go to sleep on my side - but concerned this will affect baby!

Has anyone got any advice?

I also love sleeping on my back, so I've got a u shaped pregnancy pillow with my pillow on top so I almost sleep in a sitting up position. I did with my last pregnancy too.

Yes I should have mentioned I have a u shape pillow in an attempt to try and convert to side sleeping (it didn't work)

I will try sleeping a bit more upright - I can fall asleep on the sofa no problem! Grin

Haha! Yeah it does make things comfier for sure, I also push myself back so my head is right near the headboard meaning my lower back is also angled up!

Great - will definitely give this a go. At this point I'll try anything! Thank you!

No probs, hope you have a comfortable rest of your pregnancy 🙂

When I was pregnant with DC1 the midwife said as long as you aren't flat on your back it's ok - so a pillow under the right hand side of your back which tilts you to the left could work (instead of being completely on your left side). I'm no expert though so may be worth checking with the midwife that it's safe if you're worried!

This sounds promising too!

I'm so pleased to hear other people have found it difficult too - mum guilt starting already!
