Dental treatments during pregnancy

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone knows, as I cannot find an answer anywhere! I had a dental check up where I was told I needed a filling back in December, but they didn’t have appointments until 2 weeks from now, so I booked it in for then. The appointment was before I was pregnant, but the treatment will be during my pregnancy. Can I get this paid for on the NHS as part of the exemption? Or because I accepted the treatment when I wasn’t pregnant, will I have to pay as normal? I obviously don’t have my exemption certificate yet but not sure if I can get a refund afterwards? Thank you in advance!

If you claim for free dental treatment before you have a certificate you are liable for a penalty charge .
You are best off paying and claiming back costs , if you don't have your certificate by the time you have your filling and if your certificate covers the time when you have your filling . https://www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/help-nhs-dental-costs
