For the past two weeks I've been having loads of braxton hicks (currently 29 weeks pregnant tomorrow) one of which ended up me going up to triage for a checkover because i was in pain with it quite bad radiating to my back, period type pains and the Dr stated it was probably due to the amount of braxton hicks I was having and I needed to rest, I've had a sick note for this week, I work 12.5 hours within a hospital where its very busy and constantly go go go, I've now noticed after taking this week off and resting that I'm not having half as many braxton hicks and no pain really. I've taken the dog a walk with OH today and realised just a 20 minute walk can bring on my braxton hicks and I was exhausted after. I've been to midwife today and I'm also slightly aneamic so now on iron tablets, and I've got a low lying placenta to go with all this. I'm on annual leave next week and have said to keep this as is for an extra weeks break but I'm already thinking I don't know how I'll cope when I go back the week after next to work as I've still got 6 weeks left at work when I return before I go on maternity leave. (Our trust can only start your leave from 36 weeks which is when I'm taking it anyway). My OH has told me to get the gp to sign me off fully now anyway and not worry about work. It all worries me as this is a very much wanted baby as we had two MC's before him and we were trying for 3 years.

After any advice I don't know whether I'm wimping out and going off too early at 29 weeks and being ridiculous or whether I should listen to OH. I'm my own worst nightmare at times.

I wouldn’t worry at ALL about getting signed off. All that matters is you and the baby. I do 12 hr nights as a nurse and I honestly will not be shy in getting signed off if I feel I need it. I also had two miscarriages last year and it’s really taught me that my one priority is this little life inside of me!

I don’t know why we feel such guilt about taking time when we need it…I totally get it but please please put yourself and your little one first. You don’t get any prize (or often thanks 🤣) for struggling on! The NHS will survive without you (or me for that matter!) u bet once you’ve bitten the bullet and done it you will feel so much better about your decision. It’s just making the call thats so anxiety inducing!

Hope this comes across as supportive and not bossy 🤣 I just know how much unnecessary pressure we put on ourselves! ❤️

@Couggstar123 thank you, probably what I needed to hear! I definitely took it as supportive! Xxx
