Hey guys,

I'm only four weeks and I feel terrible. Tired, headache, exhausted, achey, a little nauseous.

Is this normal? Will it get better/worse?

yep sounds normal! Most people feel better after 12 weeks.

Haha, OK! As long as baby is OK. Worst part is not being able to have a hot bath.

Why can't you have a bath? It's fine. You're just not meant to get really hot, like a sauna or sit in a hot tub for ages.

Sara1988 · 31/01/2024 10:58

I like them hot!

Yup, very normal I’m afraid, but it certainly doesn’t make it any easier. I’m pregnant with baby number 3 and each pregnancy has hit me harder and harder.

With my first the sickness and exhaustion seriously eased around 9/10 weeks and I felt amazing after that. With my second I wasn’t so lucky and it was more like 16 weeks. With my second too I was throwing up every single day up until then multiple times.

I’m now 7+3 and I have felt completely horrendous for about 2 weeks now. One day my partner got back in from taking the kids out and I was in bed barely able to speak I was that tired, he nearly called an ambulance. I had a sugary drink and forced myself to eat something and perked up. So do be careful with yourself and take it easy. It’s unbelievably difficult, I actually can’t believe I’ve done it 3 times, absolutely never again now, it’s unbearable.

StephanieSuperpowers · 31/01/2024 16:38

Yeah, the first few weeks suck. But you will be fine shortly!

Anawi · 31/01/2024 16:53

That's exactly how I felt very early in all three of my pregnancies, so it's certainly very normal for me!

Waking up feeling exactly how you describe and thinking 'why do I feel like I have a horrible hangover?' when I hadn't been drinking was pretty much my first pregnancy clue each time 🙈I hope you feel better fast.

anyolddinosaur · 31/01/2024 16:59

When I was first pregnant I apparently looked so awful people thought I was dying. Babies take a lot out of you. Breasts aching yet, that was my first pregnancy indication?

Sara1988 · 31/01/2024 16:59

@StephanieSuperpowers @Anawi

Thanks both. I was worried I was ill and it might effect the pregnancy. Feel like I've been hit by a bus!

@L00k4m3x thanks for your response. Haven't been able to go to work today! Hopefully it'll improve enough to go in soon.

Had boob pain like 5dpo but eased a bit now. I'm 35, wonder if my age doesn't help either.

I never changed my baths 4 kids on lol..it's more saunas there on about. It may get better it may not I was sick to the very end with them all

StephanieSuperpowers · 31/01/2024 17:02

Yeah, it can be really hard, especially when you don't really feel like anything else is happening! But in a few weeks you'll wake up and feel as good as you've ever felt. And it's all going to get very exciting! Hope you get over it quickly and have a comfortable pregnancy and a safe and happy delivery. 🌹

Sara1988 · 31/01/2024 17:03

Thank you 🥰

I was gagging and retching from 4 weeks 😅 lost over a stone and was lighter at my 16 and 20 week appointments than my booking appointment. Nausea much better by 16 weeks ish but had food aversion into the 20 something weeks. Third trimester was best for me, first 2 so difficult! Now cuddling my almost 8 week old that was born at over 9lb!

Peekaboo07 · 31/01/2024 22:42

Very normal! Unfortunately started getting worse for me at 5 weeks and was retching/ throwing up multiple x a day - diagnosed with HG and had to go on meds! Much better as I entered the 2nd trimester recently .. hang on in there I do hope it doesn’t get any worse but even if it does, remember pregnancy is a temporary journey! You’ll make it through! Creating a baby in your body uses a lot of your energy and resources you are bound to feel it!

I’m just 6 weeks and symptoms are changing. At 4 weeks I was bloated like hell, felt tired, miserable and unwell. I’m now at week 6 and I’m not tired, have tender boobs, feel sick if I don’t eat regularly, terrible sleep and pain in my left side. I’ve also lost about 4lbs as gaggy. The joys.
this is my first and I’m 40 so no idea what to expect!
did have a scan this week due to the pain and got to see all is well so far

Glad your scan went well!

I haven't even had my booking appointment yet. I can't believe how sick I feel this early. I just hope it's the surge and things will settle.

I'm 35 and this is my first. I do wonder if my age is a bit of a factor.

It sounds normal but be prepared you may feel much worse before you feel better! The worst weeks for me were 7 - 10, I mostly focused on survival! You might find you start feeling/being more sick. I felt much better from 11 weeks and really enjoyed pregnancy up until now at 28 weeks when I’m starting to feel tired and sore again. Nothing really compares to that early pregnancy exhaustion though, it’s relentless!

Samwins · 01/02/2024 21:59

I found it crazy how long you have to wait to see anyone/confirm you are pregnant. I have my booking appointment on the 13th. If they hadn’t of thought I had an ectopic I wouldn’t have been scanned. They were super kind and said as I’m anxious and old 😅 they’ll rescan in 2 weeks.
dont think I’m prepared for how yucky we will feel

Rocket1982 · 01/02/2024 22:01

4 weeks is quite early to start feeling nausea. Mine came on in the 5th week and that was pretty early... If it ramps up a lot you might need to seek help before it gets too bad.

Sara1988 · 02/02/2024 16:26

Went in to doctors today to arrange my booking appointment and was told it would be at 8 weeks... (I'm 5 weeks technically but ovulate cd 21 so 4 weeks really.) I said I need to see someone sooner because I have terrible morning sickness and was told I'd just need to book a normal appointment by calling at 8am Monday.

OP posts:
Shortbreadfingerss · 02/02/2024 16:47

@Sara1988 that sounds right as it would be the GP that prescribes medication for morning sickness usually not the midwife, I didn’t have booking appointment until 8 weeks. Although if you can’t keep anything down at all even water I would call 111?

Sara1988 · 02/02/2024 17:52

I'm sick about once a day, can't face eating and constantly nauseous... so bad but could be worse.

OP posts:
Rocket1982 · 02/02/2024 22:11

You are very early to have severe morning sickness... Unfortunately it may ramp up further. There used to be a HG support thread on here. You'll get through it but seek medical help if you need to.
