Hello everyone.

First time poster and also first time expectant mother, but have been reading and trailing through lots of posts recently!

I'm 13+3 at the moment and have just returned from a referral appointment as during my 12 week scan last week the sonographer informed us that the NT was reading at 4.2. This began days of worry as I was given the normal information of what this could mean and my screening bloods were taken.

However during my scan today at the referral appointment, they were quite happy with everything they saw - I'm an overweight mum to be so it did mean there were a very obstacles but even with an additional internal, the quite senior team weren't concerned at all. Baby was a proper fidget throughout which was lovely to see but I just find the screening results quite baffling.

I've been told I've got a 1 in 2 chance of DS, but am sat at 1 in 700 for ES & PS, but from my understanding this factors in the incorrect NT scan?

Has anyone else had similar experiences with incorrect NT readings?

My next steps are opting for the NIPT and then to go from there. I'm remaining strong and positive that Baby is going to be absolutely fine and healthy - but it's a tough decision to make even just to go for the amniocentesis...

Basically help me please and any experiences shared would be greatly appreciated.

❤️

Really sorry you’re going through this - I can’t get any advice but there’s a great thread in here called ‘antenatal tests’ where there are lots of posters going through or been through the same as you that could possibly help.

We got an "increased risk" on one of the t12 markers, but later realized that it's an incorrect reading due to my hcg injections, which caused elevated hcg levels during the test.
I was given an option to repeat the NT screening test or NIPT. I've opted for NIPT (it's expensive!) just to reassure myself and get answers.
I understand how you feel, but maybe knowing for sure will help you.

Not so much an incorrect measurement but just wanted to say twin 2's NT was measured at 6.1mm. Obviously well above the marker. Cue huge stress and anxiety and referral to fetal medicine unit for in depth scans and consultant appointments. My risk came back as 1:14 for DS and 1:10000 for PS/ES. Both twins absolutely healthy with no issues, they're 7 now.
