Not quite the same but I quite often see my pulse in my eyes and my blood pressure has been low throughout pregnancy. I think it’s maybe just the increased blood flow that comes with being preggo! But defo give your a MW a call if you’re worried. Hope all goes well!

You can get a home bp monitor quite cheaply if you're worried

Fraaahnces · 27/01/2024 01:14

It’s called pulsatile tinnitus. It can be high bp or it can be a malformation of blood vessels behind your ear, or worst case scenario, your jugular. You might need a scan and/or the pressures checked in that specific area.

I had this during my last pregnancy and occasionally it recurs if I'm lying on my left side in bed. I have never had high blood pressure and my GP was not able to give me an explanation apart from that I'm very sensitive to noise (which is true). Not that you shouldn't get checked out, OP, I just wanted to reassure you it may mean nothing is wrong.

hanschristmassolo · 27/01/2024 01:49

It's completely normal I had it with both pregnancies. It's annoying but does get better. Your blood volume increase during pregnancy and it's to do with that

NightSkyWanderer · 27/01/2024 01:50

Its always advised to get checked out but I have this often and the explanation was down to the extra blood flow pumping around your body

ejndwejnfk · 11/02/2024 00:13

update, I spoke to two midwifes about this one said its not pregnancy related...
and other said probably the extra blood flow, I did my blood pressure myself and its normal
still have this tho been going on 3+ weeks im going to mention again at midwife app Wednesday

I had this in my first pregnancy (not my second) and the only difference is I had low iron, so I think it was that.

It was extremely uncomfortable having it 24/7 but it did stop after I gave birth. I think your mw is wrong, it's a known pregnancy symptom (though uncommon)

thats interesting I did get told I have mild anaemia 109 being my levels normal low is 120 I think I am taking iron tablets just started
I have it 24/7 and when im stressed it gets so so loud its horrible driving me crazy
and yeah I know even a quick google tells you its very common in pregnancy but often says its a sign of bad things hence the worry no one taking it serious..

I suffered with Pulstile Tinnitus after a whiplash injury. Drove me nuts affected my hearing.
Eventually had an MRI scan and along with other symptoms (electric shock pain and painful head I developed 8 ywars after) diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia. Which was not good news.
Not bad enough they want to do surgery. Buuuuuut after I had DC1 the Pulstile tinnitus went away. But still have TN.

My Dr was rather dismissive saying a large number of the population suffer with it and some people it affects them some don't. They can't confirm if linked to the whiplash as it was years ago now. But I had symptoms from then.

Through my five pregnancies, I felt my pulse all through my whole body frequently. It’s often how I knew I was pregnant (I was pregnant enough times to see the trend!). I assumed it was the extra blood, it was more obvious in the first half of pregnancy. All was ok and my dc are 12-17 now (all v close together!).
