Hello, there is a Baby fair in London in March. I wonder if anyone going? And or have been these kind of show before? If yes, any good? Thanks!

They are good to get a feel of what you like but I believe you're in the April thread? I'm not going to the march show purely because you usually then order the products and they say something crazy like 8 weeks for delivery so I'm too scared to wait until that late 😅. It helped my sister a lot when she was expecting but she did have trouble getting stuff in time and she went a few months prior to her due date

I guess it might be useful for looking at prams and car seats that you may not be able to see elsewhere. I wouldn’t bother truthfully but I’m pregnant with my 3rd. When deciding on a pram for DD1, I did some research and then tested them in John Lewis.

@Ttcmumma thanks! yay due in April. I also feel timing a bit tight, so hesitating go or not. Mmm…

They do have show offers. So it's worth it if you already have something in mind, and try and grab it at a bargain.

But if you go with nothing in mind, and are a first time parent they will upsell you everything.

I went to one when I was about 20 weeks pregnant with my youngest. It was nice to spend a day focusing on the baby and being pregnant without the other 4 dc in tow. The pregnancy was unplanned and the response from relatives wasn't positive so it was nice having people gush over me and ask me about my due date, names etc even if they were doing it to try and sell stuff! It was a nice day out and I bought one of those fancy changing bags with loads of pockets and a load of bibs. Also tried out some buggies before buying one on ebay.

I’m going this year at 30 weeks. I went years ago when I was pregnant with my son and was only 20 weeks. Yes if you wanted big items you’d order them and wait to arrive. But there’s also plenty to buy on the day. We don’t need as much this time being the second but I really enjoyed it as a day out, there is talks on, we had lunch and I’m looking forward to going again! I want to look at slings and try some on etc.

Equally I can appreciate I might be the only one enjoying it as a day out haha.

I thought it was a total waste of time 🙈

Much preferred just going to the shops and browsing vinted!!!

I’ve been to about 12 of them - working!
as others have said all the buggy and car seat companies take big stands and have everything there to try which is brilliant if you’re looking for those, especially now mothercare etc have closed down, lots of people don’t have many other places to actually see and try those big items.

most brands will do show offers, which can only be had at the shows. Lots of brands use it as a way to clear warehouse stock (which is brand new, just last years colour or whatever) so you really can pick up some good prices.

it will show you on the website which brands are attending, about 80% of it will be smaller items to buy and take home on the day such as changing bags, clothing, bedding, breast pumps, nursery decor, toys, placenta jewellery…whatever you can think of!

in my experience working on stands most attendees are pregnant, though some have a baby already. Lots bring a spreadsheet with items they are looking for, and prices they have seen elsewhere. If you ask the brands will usually price match if you’ve seen the same item cheaper online as they really don’t want to take the stock back to the warehouse!

I think it’s quite a nice day out, a chance to window shop in a way that’s no longer possible on the high street now that mothercare, babies r us etc have shut down. There’s plenty of cafes etc in the hall so you can take it slowly and you’ll probably get some freebies.

I don’t work for the show, I have just been stand staff selling things for brands, but thought my experience might be helpful x

Obvs you can’t buy placenta jewellery on the day and take it home 😆

Waste of time and money

Buy as little as possible. First year flies

If I get a free ticket offered (sometimes shows as an add on insta/Facebook etc) wouldn't mind going for something to do. But these days can just go check out baby stuff in a store like John Lewis and get their baby specialist to help you. For around £40 for 2 people to go with a goody bag, would rather just use that money to buy something for the baby. If just looking for a day out then fair enough
