Brown discharges - 18 weeks

Hi all,

i have been having brown discharges since last Friday morning!
These go on and off and usually i can see them only when i wipe and just in the morning.
they do not end up on the pad but only on the toilet paper!

It seems that unless i have vaginal discharges, I din’t get the spotting.

They were never red, i almost never had clots apart from sunday - when I saw a couple of tiny brown clots.

I called the midwives and they say that they are not concerned as i do not have other symptoms , it is not like a menstrual cycle and they do not turn like fresh blood, however they scheduled an appointment to make more exams for next Monday together with a gynecologist.

i feel the baby kicking everyday, so that is reassuring, but I don’t understand where these discharges come from, why they do not stop and , while I wait for my check on Monday , I am terrified that this may be something like incompetent cervix or something bad.

Any experiences?

Update: from the eco (20 weeks scan) it turns out that I have placenta “previa” (8 mm over the OS of the cervix).
my midwives are confident it sill shift up. The major part of the placenta is up and above in the uterus , it is just the end of it that crosses the cervix a bit.
i will get another scan to monitor it at 32 weeks but again, they are pretty confident it will fix by itself.

anyone had experienced it and it raised?

I don't know if it was the same as you, but I had a discharge for a while around 16 weeks. As I'm reshus negative and DH is positive, I'd been told if I had any discharge or bleeding, I needed to get checked by GP or hospital. As it was weekend, DH said no messing about and I was checked by hospital. We're talking a good few years ago and at that time it was just a case of them me over, so no scan.

I had to be induced at 37 weeks (nothing to do with this) and I went on to have a healthy baby.

Thanks for posting your positive experience, despite the hiccups! My rh is positive, so it just has to do with the placenta being a bit over the cervix for now.
i was very concerned, but i was reassured that it should fix … if not it seems i’ll need to have a c section but i wanna think positive.. it’s still a long way from 20 weeks to 32 :)
