Am 35 weeks, and going to pack my hospital bag. It is my 2nd baby, and I know the essentials that I need to pack, but what stuff did everyone wish they had taken that they didnt?
I remember ages ago, someone said flip flops for a shower in hospital, because they can be a bit gross, so Im taking those, and just some makeup essentials (mascara, eye liner) because I know last time, it made me feel much better the day after id had ds, and also, instead of buying dispoable knickers, Iv bought 2 packs of asda price knickers (£1 for 3 pairs) which can just be thrown away, and are much compfier than paper.
But is there any other 'wish I had but didnt's?'

MORE knickers
MORE pads

halster · 19/03/2008 16:54

Snacks, for afterwards. I had dd2 at 11.30 at night and I was STARVING. Nothing was available in the hospital apart from a bit of toast. Which was not enough. I think I ate 5 cereal bars in one go!

Anti-bac wipes and fem wipes. Wouldn't have been without them.

MrsMattie · 19/03/2008 16:55

Nice, soft, enormous knickers - loads of them.

halster · 19/03/2008 16:56

Don't mix the wipes up though

Flubdub · 19/03/2008 16:56

Oh yeah, I'll pack a pack of baby wipes

avenanap · 19/03/2008 17:00

a nursing bra. Doh! They didn't let me use babywipes, had to use water and cotton wool.

Extra food would have been nice.

francagoestohollywood · 19/03/2008 17:00

and dark choc

Flubdub · 19/03/2008 17:00

Food

I was so hungry with DD. They did give me some toast after she was born but then I was sick so had to wait until breakfast to get something else to eat (gave birth at 11pm)

iwouldgoouttonight · 19/03/2008 17:03

More than one towel - for some reason mine got used for wiping off some blood so then I didn't have one for a shower and MW had to (very reluctantly) lend me a hospital one!

talkingmongoose · 19/03/2008 17:03

second more pants.

and extra nighties, I ended up washing mine out in the sink to wear again.

Flubdub · 19/03/2008 17:13

Yes, extra nighties, I remember from last time.
The baby wipes are for me, not the baby.
But "they wouldnt let you" ?? If you wanted to use them, whats it got to do with them? Its not like your wiping the baby down with bleach!

Pads, pads, pads! and fem wipes.
I got told off for using wipes with Ds in 1998, and when I had Dd in 2006, I changed her nappy really quickly behind the curtain so I would get caught!!!

StrangeTown · 19/03/2008 17:34

Take your own Bran Flakes or Museli. They only provide Cornflakes etc white bread for breakfast and are obessed with your bowels so if you want to ensure you are regular take some fibre!

icklegem · 19/03/2008 17:35

Cooling face spray for labour. I couldn't have lived without mine!

avenanap · 19/03/2008 17:37

ds's dad! Then the arse could have seen how painful it was.
