I’m 25 weeks with twins, wondering when to go off on maternity leave. I know everyone is different, but what week did you start your Mat leave?
im a teacher by the way!

I ended work on 32 weeks which was good as my twins needed to come out at 36 weeks. During weeks 34 - 36 I was in for scans/monitoring everyday x it get so so uncomfortable towards the end x

That’s so helpful, I think I’m going to aim for the same timing. I’d always thought I’d go on as long as I could but it’s different with twins isn’t it!

I'm 34 weeks tomorrow with twins and Wednesday is my last day, but I've been fully WFH since Christmas. If I had to commute or do anything active I would definitely have finished earlier!

29 weeks. By then I was measuring the same as a full term singleton and getting tired and breathless. I worked on a very stressful job.
Plus I had already had a lot of bleeding through the pregnancy.
I rested and went for gentle walks every day. My bleeding settled and I actually went to 36+5 before I delivered.

Teacher here too. Twins arrived at 36+1 in mid-August. I finished on the last day of term at about 31 weeks. I was very ready as it was a swelteringly hot summer.

28 weeks and measuring full term in the summer so it was hard going - I also had a physical job. Twins were born at 34 weeks.

Remember you can ask for work related adjustments to enable you to continue work if thats what you want, so for example you could ask for more breaks, more time sitting down etc.
You are in late pregnancy for such a short proportion of your working life, don't be afraid to ask for what you need in your final weeks of work.

@SouthwestSis is right.

I am also going to suggest an option which sits in the grey area.

You could take a few weeks sick leave e.g 2-4 weeks. It would be pregnancy related so your SML would have to start 4 weeks before at 36 weeks.

Realistically weeks 32-34 with twins are going to be tiring, impact your mobility etc. an employer will understand why you may be unfit for work.

Most employers disregard pregnancy sick absence.

I'm 31 weeks and my last day is tomorrow. I'm a nurse but not clinical but I've just found I can't concentrate anymore and I have 2 other children so just the school and playgroup run etc does me in for a good few hours! I would say my energy etc has been zapped over the past 2 weeks. Before that I thought I could go a bit longer but now I cannot wait to finish!

36 wks. Babies born at 40+1. The baby at the top was transverse so I could hardly breathe.
I suppose much depends on how you are carrying and how comfortable you are. There’s also the possibility that towards the end you may need lots of monitoring(everyday for me) which means it would be impossible to have a productive working day.
