Please help! Even just some positive stories will help me! 😩😩😩

Third pregnancy and just like my second this one is worse than the previous one.

I can’t get out of bed. I am throwing up multiple times a day. Even during the night, I’ve never had it in the night before so it’s now stopping me from sleeping and I am beyond exhausted. I manage to eat the smallest of things and still keeping some water down but my god I’m only 6 weeks, I don’t know how I’m going to cope.

It’s the weekend currently so my partner is off and can help but come Monday I just know I’m going to be begging him to call in sick because I honestly don’t know how I can do this. My eldest is almost 5 so is in school most of the day but my youngest is 1 and he’s the clingiest child known to man kind.

Any positive stories, tips, ways to cope, anything? Please 😩

You need to seek medical attention this sounds like HG

orangeoctupus · 20/01/2024 09:10

Are you taking any anti nausea medication? If not book a GP appointment asap.
Have a look at the charity Pregnancy Sickness Support - website and Facebook group.

@Neurodiversitydoctor I feared this as soon as I started to feel it during the night 😔 I will be ringing the doctors on Monday and asking to try some anti sickness meds.

@orangeoctupus No nothing yet, honestly it’s only started in the last 3-4 days but yesterday was the worst yet. I will ring them on Monday and see if they’ll give me some anti sickness meds, I have to try something!

In the nicest possible way fuck that. Call your local maternity ward, explain you aren't keeping anything down and have been vomiting all night. You need IV meds and a drip, then you can talk about oral medicines and ginger biscuits.

orangeoctupus · 20/01/2024 10:03

@Neurodiversitydoctor what? Where did I mention ginger biscuits?? I'd never be so dismissive of a woman with HG. Ive suffered with it myself - and know first hand that meds such as Xonvea and Onadestron can make a huge difference.
I advised OP to look up pregnancy sickness support as they are an amazing charity that provide a wealth of important information for women suffering like this. Especially important if you end up seeing an unsupportive healthcare provider - the charity gave me the tools to advocate for myself and get the medication and support I needed.

Neurodiversitydoctor · 20/01/2024 11:24

I don't dispute that but if she is vomiting continously, then she needs IV rehydration. I don't think she should wait till monday.

orangeoctupus · 22/01/2024 15:31

How are you @L00k4m3x

L00k4m3x · 22/01/2024 16:52

@orangeoctupus Thanks for checking in!

I have rang the doctors today and couldn’t believe the first thing she told me
to try was ginger! 🤦🏻‍♀️ Like this isn’t my first rodeo, I tried it all with my other two pregnancies and nothing worked. She was reluctant to give me medication but did in the end as I insisted.

Today has been somewhat easier I was only sick this morning a couple of times. Still can barely stomach the thought of any food or drink though but really, really trying!

It's so disappointing how many doctors don't seem clued up on pregnancy nausea and vomiting.
Which drugs did they give you? I'm glad they're helping a bit.

Ridingthegravytrain · 23/01/2024 07:39

Sorry to hear this. I found the doctors a bit useless regarding meds. Just tried things like buccastem or cyclizine.

If it gets bad just go to hospital. The drip helps so quickly and then you can get prescribed the good meds

Cyclizine is a strong antiemetic and relatively safe in pregnancy. Of course this should be tried before admitting a patient (especially one who has other kids to worry about) and putting her on less safe medication.

When you've had it before and know it doesn't work then it's a bit useless.

Obviously when someone posts it's from their experience.
