Lovely subject I know . Still, does anyone know what I can use during pregnancy? Canestan doesn't seem to be doing the trick thus far ... is Difflucam okay or are there any better remedies. TIA

Hi. Sorry I can't offer any good medical advice, but my dd and I both suffered from thrush after her birth, which made bfeeding a nightmare, so if you can get rid of it now, do! Anyway, I am now on a Candida diet to really rid myself of it. It is fairly intense - no sugars (inc fruit) or yeast. (Also have to eat lots of low-fat natural yoghurt!). Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that it might be worth looking into, but get some advice as you're pregnant (maybe see a nutritionist?). Hope that's helpful.

think it's just the cream and the pessary, rather than the oral tablet.. I had it in pregnancy too.go to the docs and get it prescribed - you'll be able to get the prescription for free then

I know the feeling...Im 37 weeks and have it too.

The gp prescribed me canesten combi yesterday and i used the pessary last night,it certainly seems to have helped so far.

You can't take the oral medicine in pregnancy which is what I would usually take as I react quite badly to the canesten pessaries. The gp prescribed me Ecostatin pessaries which are just a different type of antifungal medicine to the stuff in Canesten and is safe in pregnancy after the first 3 months. It seems to have done the trick for me. The GP said there were a few different types of thrush medication so you could maybe ask your GP for an alternative to the Canesten.

Garlic. It was recommended by a neighbour after I had antibiotics from my dentist and had flowers growing on my tongue. I was sceptical but I tried it and it really works. She said she made a paste, spread it on a tampon and, well, you know. I am not sure if it's a good idea for that bit though

Not much good for treating it - but does prevent it for the future and also make you a little more comfortable is a cream/gel called biofem (get it in boots) prevents thrush and when i used to get it alot (linked to pill) it was a life saver, not had thrush since i started using it, just use it when i think its on its way!

Thanks everyone ... shall get a combi pack tomorrow - have only been using the cream thus far. Good tip about the other cream too Mummywannabe - thanks!
