Can you please share whether you’ve felt “different” with them?

the only reason I ask is because I’ve only ever had boys, and my mood/feelings never changed. I was still keeping my energy levels (except when I got anaemia one time at around 25 weeks so had to be put on ferrous sulphate) but aside from that, I was still feeling “myself”. Lucky enough not to experience nausea or anything like that

Now?! I’m 7, almost 8 weeks pregnant, and I cannot find the energy to do anything. I feel DECEASED. My mood is LOW. I have absolutely no motivation to do the back things in life. This feels so alien to me 😣 I know a lot of them are old wives’ tales but I’m wondering, am I carrying a girl? As much as I’d enjoy welcoming a girl into the world, I would really love another boy.

maybe I’m getting caught up in my negative emotions and just trying to explain why I feel so bloody crap and demotivated right now 😭

With my boy I liked the smell of petrol, tarmac, hardware stores! Was weird! Also craved red meat. No morning sickness and any other difficult symptoms. With my girl I got morning sickness and was tired a lot in first trimester. i hated certain smells like sweet chilli sauce and went off meat. Also with my son he was long so would kick my rib cage, my daughter was smaller so didn't feel as uncomfortable towards the end.

Yes same with the kicking! My son managed to get his feet right up under my ribcage, my daughter never seemed to get hers higher than just above my belly button. He was 2lb heavier than her and really long.

Yes same! I couldn't sit down at 90° as his feet would be kicking my ribs! I'd had to sit tilted back to give him room!

One of each and no difference - maybe more tired with the second one (boy) but... I also had the first one to look after

CupOfCoffeeandaPineappleChunk · 19/01/2024 22:32

Biggest difference was in cravings. Dairy, bread and plain things for a boy, sharp sour things for a girl, like oranges, lemons and pickles. Lots of people have also said this too.

2 girls one boy. More nausea sickness and tiredness with my son.

MirandaWest · 19/01/2024 22:35

Both my pregnancies very similar - sick from about 6 weeks to 12/13 weeks. Couldn’t stand to eat much other than potatoes and small oranges etc.

Now have 20 year old DS and 18 year old DD 😊

I had 3 girls and 1 boy. With my son I had morning sickness, the line down the middle of my belly and developed an allergy to fish. I had none of those things with my daughters, although it could have been a complete coincidence.

With my first pregnancy to a boy I was very very sick throughout and was generally in a dark place. I'm pregnant to a girl now 27 weeks and I was very sick between 8-16wks and suddenly I just didn't feel pregnant at all apart from the growing bump. I feel much more lively and energetic with the girl. I hope my 3rd trimester goes well because with the boy, the sickness was much more forceful.

I think your age and the season influence the pregnancy experience.

VWd · 19/01/2024 23:51

I think it was hard to compare the general ‘feeling crap’ feeling in the two pregnancies because there was 2 years between them and all I remember was both weren’t great, girl maybe worse, but the big difference for me was the sickness. I was sick by 6 weeks when pregnant with my little girl and I felt sick pretty much all the time from then until 16 weeks whereas with my son I wasn’t sick until 9 weeks and it was either once per day or less, ending by 12 weeks.

The differences towards the end I think were more to do with it being a second baby and not that the girl pregnancy was harder but physically it was so painful and uncomfortable with her, every kick hurt and I had a bad back and all the bad things going🙈 with him I glided through it with no issues whatsoever and was barely even uncomfortable

Ladyj84 · 20/01/2024 00:42

Boys, girls and twins I was ill with all till the end with sickness

coxesorangepippin · 20/01/2024 01:38

I was a lot hungrier with ds. Waking in the night to eat everything, etc.

I think morning sickness was worst with him too. Smells made me feel sicker too i.e raw chicken.

Had pregnancy diabetes with DD - sorry can't remember official name.

Still gained the same amount of weight with DD, but ate less.

Two pregnancies. Very similar. 1 boy, 1 girl.

Both felt totally the same. Any way you feel different is entirely separate to the sex of the baby you are carrying.

This. All else is codswallop
