Fetal movements

The past couple of days I’ve noticed my baby isn’t moving as much as he has been. I’ve had 2 CTG’s and although they didn’t meet criteria initially, they did after a bit longer. I then had an ultrasound as routine to check placenta, blood flow, growth etc & the results were all fine. I was slightly concerned that when she was checking the blood flow around baby’s brain it took her a while to see the red / blue blobs and asked me to breathe in and release as she said she missed it. I’m still not feeling him move loads but I am feeling some movements. I guess there’s nothing else that can be done now is there if the consultant was happy as she saw him moving on the screen too? Please let me know your thoughts/ if she could have missed anything or what it could be!

How far along are you?
Did they mention what position the baby is in?

Sometimes if the baby changes position it makes a big difference to how you feel the movements - for example if you’re used to feeling kicks at the front and then they turn to face towards your back you won’t feel them as much.

If you’re still not happy with the movements keep going back though.

Always go back if you are worried.

As a pp suggested, did they mention the position the baby is in? When I was pregnant with my dad, I noticed whenever she faced towards the back that I didn’t feel as many movements.

Ive been checked over in a&e and maternity triage 3 times in the last week . Ive felt stupid and really didn’t want to waste anyone’s time but every nurse, doctor and midwife said they would happily keep checking me
over than wait.
I’d contact them again and your midwife and explain you’re still worried about the change of movements.

I’m 31 weeks and he’s in the cephalic position- head first, right way round. I’m not sure what position he has been in prior. I guess I’m just hoping that if there was any concerns about the blood flow when she was scanning the brain she would have said but she did say she was happy with everything after.

Head down covers a lot of positions. For example he could be facing your back, your side, your front, your other side. If he’s rotated recently it can feel quite different. And they rotate a lot at that stage when there’s still quite a bit of space in there.

Maybe at your next midwife appointment ask her to describe how the baby is lying, and then try to keep track of it yourself. It will be easier as he gets bigger to feel where exactly he is.

They definitely would have said if there was anything to be concerned about, they are always very cautious.

If you're not happy please, please get baby checked 🤍
I've been there myself with those concerns and I personally always worried I was being a nuisance, but in the end I realised they'd forget about me 10 minutes after I'd left, but I'd have the reassurance that my baby is okay. Remember you're your baby's advocate, never take that chance x

Nobody on here can tell you, as we aren't caring for you. If movements are still outside of your baby's normal pattern you must return to triage and ask for a written plan from the consultant detailing exactly what the parameters are and what you should do and when.
If movements were still reduced, you shouldn't have been discharged without a plan.
Best wishes OP.
