2nd baby, 32 weeks pregnant. Feel like I've had constant braxton hicks today.. had about 6 episodes in an hour. Very very uncomfortable and tight on my stomach but can still move and talk and breathe normally

Is this a sign something could be happening?
I didn't have this on my first baby

Thanks

It could be prodromal labour, I’ve had it in both pregnancies (first was preterm, second is still in the oven for now).

its characterised by getting regular contractions around 3-5 mins apart which don’t stop when you rest. You should definitely get it checked because it’s indistinguishable from early labour, the difference is whether it’s causing your cervix to dilate. At 32 weeks they would want to get steroids into you for baby’s lungs if you are starting to progress. Good luck!

@glasspaw this is really interesting I've never heard of prodromal labour before.
Thank you!
I'm in for a check up first thing in the morning so will try hold off until then.
Thank you!

@coffeewithmilk drs don’t talk about it much because it’s not really diagnosable until the baby arrives, by which point the diagnosis isn’t especially helpful. It’s frustrating and scary though when it does happen early. Some people manage to hold off actual labour for weeks afterwards though which is good!

Things like dehydration, your position and baby’s position can make bracton hicks worse. Drink plenty and move around and see if that helps. If not and they are becoming regular then get advice from your midwife
