Hi all

Im due in april and have started shopping for travel systems and strollers. Ive never been so confused in my life!

Originally liked the oyster 3, or occarro mamas and papas, then Got advised (my a outlet store), that neither of those had good suspension and to go for cybex or bugaboo. I am literally so confused! I mean we like to travel in car as well as go to the park and sightsee, so based on that what would you mamas recommend xx

Bugaboos are fantastic, but expensive. Any big, decent off-road buggy is usually a pain in the bum to fold up and get in the car. I use a Hauck Runner 2 for off-road and a Babyzen Yoyo for shopping/ taking the older kids to clubs etc. We also love a sling.

I've yet to find something that does absolutely everything well, so if you're planning on having more kids, I would consider looking at second hand stuff and getting two: one that does the tough stuff and one that folds easily.

YetiSeven · 13/01/2024 18:25

I have the occaro and it has done wonderfully off road for us walking dogs! Has it's limitations as much as any other pram. The bugaboo did feel smoother in the shop and I think it's probably is every so slightly better but for me it wasn't worth the extra cost!

hellojelly · 13/01/2024 18:39

The cosatto continental has all round suspension, it's fab.

jellyfish2 · 13/01/2024 18:44

I have the ocarro and the suspension is good! The chassis is quite heavy when you have the seat unit on it(when baby is older) but apart from that it's been good. Used it off road loads!

annlee3817 · 13/01/2024 19:09

It really depends what you want to use it for, if a lot of off road walking on rough terrain then yes suspension is really key, if just around town and trips to the park it's less so.

googledidnthelp · 13/01/2024 19:23

I loved my oyster 3 and it was quite a compact fit in our small car. Do you need good suspension, are you planning lots of off path walks?

I bought the pram on eBay new but from a private seller who have changed their mind and then got a carry cot in the sale. I wouldn't have paid the shop for it as they can just be extortionate!

Devilsmommy · 13/01/2024 19:27

Joie chrome. Easy to put up/down and love that it can be parent facing aswell as outward. Wheels are brilliant and I've never got stuck on anything.

jollybynamejollybynature · 13/01/2024 19:33

I've got the occarro and love it, used on and off road.

If you do like to travel in the car though it is quite bulky and heavy

ringmybe11 · 13/01/2024 19:38

I think a lot of prams are decent and will do the job. Some have subtle differences. I spent ages pushing different ones round the shop trying to decide! In the end we went for the uppababy vista which is really hardy and good for walks but is quite large for shopping and putting in the car. We also bought a silver cross clic pushchair for taking on holiday and use that one now for shopping. I love our uppababy one - I used it a lot for going for a walk which it's brilliant for and luckily we don't have an issue with space. I'd just pick one that you feel comfortable pushing and suits your lifestyle.

Mama2six · 13/01/2024 19:40

for me the uppababy Cruz or vista wins hands down and I love how big the basket is, it’s an absolute horse and uppababys customer service is fantastic.

Richie23 · 13/01/2024 21:04

We’ve got the Oyster 3 and really like it. We’ve not used it off road as such, but where we live there’s lots of narrow paths in not great condition and it handles the bumps well. It’s also super light and moves really smoothly. When other people have taken our little one out in it they’ve commented how easy it is to push and manoeuvre over kerbs and round tight corners.
Quite expensive though - we were given some money towards it and got money off in a sale which helped a lot!

JoyOdell123 · 13/01/2024 21:06

Oyster is great and has a huge basket underneath!

michaelmasdaisies · 13/01/2024 21:12

Get second hand whatever you get - soooo expensive otherwise and you may find you don't stick with your original one.

bettynutkins · 13/01/2024 21:13

Bugaboos are absolutely brilliant.

BackOfTheMum5net · 13/01/2024 21:28

We have a Cybex and have really liked it. Whenever people have pushed it they’ve commented on the nice steering and handling. Would we have survived without that level of design?! Probably!

Pick one that fits in your car boot, is easy to fold and feels well made.

Ells96 · 14/01/2024 12:49

I have an icandy orange hate it! Had nothing but issues baby’s 12 week old and only just got it back haven’t had a pram since baby was 5 weeks
pregnant again think I’m going to get the bugaboo donkey 5

Olika · 14/01/2024 13:08

I had Ickle Bubba Moon when my DD was born and absolutely loved how light it was to push and how easy it was to fold in small space. I was able to carry DD in the car seat on one arm and folded frame on the other.
I bought Oyster 3 this summer as DD wanted to sit properly upright now that she is a toddler as in Ickle Bubba the upright position is slightly ankled (like in lots of strollers).
If I was to buy a pram now I probably would go for Oyster 3 straightaway.

allgoodthings84 · 14/01/2024 17:35

We have the Cybex balios s lux. We love it. With the carrycot it’s not small for the car but none are with the carrycot. We fit it in a golf boot with other bits. Our daughter is nearly 5 months and I don’t regret the pushchair choice at all. Most babies outgrow other carrycots by now but we are still all good and will change to the next stage seat in a month. The car seat is amazing too.

my first baby had a cosatto travel system and it was nowhere near as nice to push as the Cybex is. The Cybex has excellent steering and 4 wheel suspension

Couggstar123 · 14/01/2024 22:55

We went and tried them all in a pram shop. I loved the look of the Occaro online but hated it in the shop! We have gone for the Nuna MIXX next travel system. Also quite liked the Oysyer but Nuna was so user friendly I couldn’t see past it in the end. It’s an absolute minefield though, definitely recommend going to a local pram centre if you can. Really positive experience for us!

Charlie2121 · 14/01/2024 23:01

Silver Cross travel system will serve you well. Excellent quality and does everything you need it to do. I loved mine.

Minnesota38 · 14/01/2024 23:02

We liked the Oyster but ended up going with the Uppababy Vista, as it felt a bit more sturdy.

welshweasel · 14/01/2024 23:03

Secondhand uppababy vista, then sell on and get a more compact/off road stroller when baby is a bit older. Save your money for a decent car seat instead!

Carsarelife · 14/01/2024 23:06

Bugaboo. Literally grows with the baby. Bassinet to bigger seat and lasts well. Lovely to push. Bought different hood and apron sets for mine for a bit of variety

Round123 · 14/01/2024 23:08

my daughter is 19 months. Cybex Priam is insanely good. We didn’t bother with the bassinet, just clicked the cybex car seat on it. The Priam seat is lie flat too. She’s nowhere near outgrown it. It’s been great both in London on busses and getting dragged through muddy fields!

heyduggee12345 · 14/01/2024 23:09

I don't understand why people pay hundreds for a bulky travel system when you will likely end up using a lighter buggy when they get a bit older anyway. I'd buy a second hand one
