Hi everyone!

I'm new here and hoping someone can help.

I've found my community midwife a bit tricky, and not the easiest to get info from even when it's been promised.

I had my GTT yesterday and she said she would call with results if needs be, otherwise my Badger Notes would be updated.
I have to say I don't think Badger Notes is all that, the info on there hasn't always been correct, or up to date, and not all appointments or things she says she will put on there, are actually on there.

After faffing on the app I found the result as High, no other info, and in a completely different section under conversations it says GTT 28/40...having googled this doesn't seem like others have had their results this way or in this format.

Can anyone help me understand what that means? I don't think will hear from my CM now as she doesn't work again til next week but if I do have GD I need to get onto it right away!

Thanks in advance!
Anxious mum to be!

I'm not sure about the figure but in my first pregnancy when I had the test it was first thing in the morning and they phoned late afternoon to say I had it and to book me in for a session on being shown how to use the kit etc. They'd phone rather than just update the app I would imagine. Hopefully you don't have it 🤞

I could be wrong but I think 28/40 would just be referring to you being 28 (out of 40) weeks of pregnancy, rather than anything to do with your result.

The GTT threshold for GDM is fasting over 5.6, 2 hr over 7.8

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately I do. Today's the first day of figuring out the monitor and what to eat and what not to eat! Shame as my main craving is orange juice! 😅🙈
Nevermind - needs must!

Thanks for your reply! I realised that in the middle of the night! 😂

Thank you for your reply. The issue was there was no info on the app which was helpful. I have since had a call and was at 7.8, so borderline but they've got to have a cut off somewhere!

I'd recommend going onto gestational diabetes UK website and Facebook page. The NHS guidance is so outdated. I followed GDUK for the remainder of my pregnancy and was diet controlled throughout. Good luck!

Thank you! I will do that for sure :)

You should also be referred to a dietician and a midwife who specialise in diabetes.

I had it twice; first time much worse but both I successfully managed with diet changes alone.

Low carbs and high proteins will help.

Orange juice will need to be avoided. But how about trying some fruit with Greek yogurt instead? The natural fruit sugars will be counted by the fats in the yogurt.
