32 weeks baby engaged?

Two days ago I felt immense pressure on my bladder and my bum accompanied by nausea and tightening. I went to triage and they tested for premature labour using a swab (came back negative) and did a ctg. Had to go back yesterday for another ctg as criteria wasn't met. Was sent home with little to no information. Been having on average 4 tightening with cramps, nausea and dizziness since. No discharge or blood. Today I've felt the same pressure on my bladder and bum (with accompanying nausea and dizziness) does anyone have any clue if this is normal? I'm only 32 + 3 wks and concerned it's a little early for this to be happening.

Did they know about the tightening/cramps when you were seen yesterday?
Is this your first pregnancy?

There is no harm in giving them a call and chatting things through with a midwife

@SouthwestSis yes they knew about the tightenings when I went in. Showed them the times and frequencies. It's my first pregnancy. Reluctant to call again as they didn't seem concerned. Said baby was head down. Just curious if others had felt the same. Some of the tightenings last for up to an hour, yet when you read about braxton hicks it says no longer than a few minutes. Triage said to go home unless I get any other symptoms which I haven't so far.

My first baby engaged with cramps/nausea at 32 weeks. Docs told me they expected LO to come early/any day now. Booked an induction at 39 weeks and had four and ended up with EMCS as LO was engaged but not bloody going anywhere (and my BP was up).

So engaged to my understanding doesn't actually necessarily mean you'll go early!

However always get checked out and stay in touch with midwifery team.

Best of luck xx

@GingerLiberalFeminist thanks for your reply, it's reassuring to know that it doesn't necessarily mean premature labour! X

When you say the tightenings last for an hour, could this be baby just sitting in an awkward position. I’ve had long periods of discomfort and tightness in this pregnancy but I also have a very mobile baby compared to my first, so I just put it down to her positioning.

I’m 31 +4 and I do now get braxton hicks about 6/7 times a day. Occasionally they are painful and I have to stop and rest when that happens. I had this with my first and I did go into spontaneous labour at 35+6, so it doesn’t necessarily mean anything…but it also can mean something.

I knew it was labour last time because I was having tightenings that fell into a pattern over the course of an hour.

good luck with the rest of your pregnancy :)

Hello! x
let me describe what happened to me since a week ago.
on Saturday I visited triage due to being wet down below. Cervix was closed, no urine infection still prescribed me antibiotics which I did not start take it. Came back in on Monday. One of the doctors visually checked my cervix said my waters were broken, admitted to hospital. Same day few hours later performed “waters” test- negative. Been discharged from the hospital.
tuesday- came back still being wet, overnight had lightning crotch pain. Checked cervix- closed, test for contractions came back positive, meaning premature labour. It’s Friday still at hospital. Yesterday and day before been vomiting, feeling like I’m gonna faint, from last night have got stronger “period pain” that goes onto my back and legs. I’m so confused what’s happening with my body.

@MrsTosh87 how far along did you get at the end of the day until baby came?

MrsTosh87 · 05/04/2024 22:35

@LavenderSweetPea I ended up having a c section at 39wks due to medical concerns that weren't raised sooner. I was basically told my heart would give out to have natural labour or bleed out with a section at my 38 week consultants appointment. Section seemed the safer option after that bombshell. My DD arrived at 10:53am healthy and happy (although currently being a little madam at nighttime). My experience was not great, I'm now 5wks PP and still recovering from the experience.
