Subchorionic hematoma

I'm 9 weeks pregnant and I got diagnosed with a subchorionic hematoma. I didn't know what this was and so I didn't ask if it was big or small. The doctor said I shouldn't worry and they will just monitor it so they have called me back after 2 weeks. I've read a lot of women saying they did things like bed rest, no exercise and no sex to help it heal. My doctor didn't tell me to avoid any of these things and I was wondering if these things actually help? Like if a professional has told a patient to avoid these activities in order to let the subchorionic hematoma heal

I had a large one and a few big bleeds because of it. My dr put me on rest (not bed rest as such) and told me to take it very easy and no sex. It was gone by 12 weeks

Have you had bleeding from it? I was diagnosed with a large SCH at 10 weeks following a bleed, and another large bleed at 11 weeks. Still there at 12 week scan. I was told: no sex, swimming, or heavy lifting. Not instructed to rest but I have been when I’ve had active bleeding (as far as possible, as I already have a toddler).

I had this with my first, I avoided sex until the bleeding stopped after a few weeks but was not put on any restrictions. X

I had/have a small one at my 6 weeks scan. Was 2cm x2cm. Doctors were not concerned at all. Just told me to expect some spotting and light bleeding. I’m now 9 weeks and have had brown discharge nearly every other day. I’ve had sex a few times and had red blood after but then stops, that is probably from the cervix though. I think they only tell you to rest and avoid certain things if you have a large one. I would contact them to find out. X

@flyingbeet If you don't want TMI and possibly upsetting content then skip my post.

Mine was considered large, I had spotting at 6 weeks and some odd days, then at 7 weeks plus I think 4 days I bled a lot in a short space of time, massive clots of blood the length of my middle finger and I was gushing bright red blood. I ended being referred to hospital due to the amount I bled. Gyna I saw reassured me that they were just clots of blood with nothing else. I stopped bleeding shortly after arriving at hospital.

I was booked in for a scan 2 days later. Because of the above and because my SCH had reformed and measured as large I was put on bed rest, no lifting, no walking, no sex, no orgasms purely due to the size of it they didn't want me losing that amount of blood again. I was rescanned for my usual 20 week scan and it had disappeared.

What I will say is if you are able, rest as much as you can even though they haven't told you that. The vast majority disappear and there are no additional complications. The only reason I found out the size of mine was because the untrasound person was training another person on this machine so they were talking about the measurements and they only tell the patient if it is over a particular size. I had no further complications and that baby is now a strapping chap who will turn 18 shortly.
