Pram - HELP

I’m 33 weeks and we still haven’t decided on a pram. We liked the Egg 2 in store, but they’re super expensive and I’m struggling to find one second hand locally and starting to get to the stage where I just want the pram sorted!

Other options are: Uppababy Vista 2 and Bugaboo (possibly Fox?) all seem similar price range and don’t want to make the wrong investment.

Can you all please advise if you have one of the above three brands and how it has been? Positive and negative comments welcomed!

  • Boot space / ease of folding etc
  • Walks on pavement and woodland
  • Overall in terms of longevity, ease of use, any other factors?

I never changed from my ocarro and sending it for cleaning to reuse for this baby I'm pregnant with now too

I loved my Egg 2 pram, and I've been for walks in the woods with it with no problem. I feel like the wheels are really sturdy and it handles the rough ground well. Where have you looked for a second hand egg one? I was going to put my bundle up for sale on Gumtree or something but I felt like there was so many on there when I looked that I wouldn't get any interest! If you're anywhere near Manchester there's a shop that sells second hand pram sets but they clean them up first and they all look immaculate, if you want to know what it's called then I'll find it. Unfortunately I paid full price for mine before I saw this shop 🤣

If you plan to walk anywhere slightly muddy watch how much clearance the front wheels have for where they attach as they get easily filled with mud and it's a nightmare.

I would think about long term - will you be using the pushchair every day or will you be back working and only using it for dog walks?
We brought a good quality rucksack carrier but didn't really use it much as it gets heavy quickly.

I currently have the mountain buggy terrain it's massive but great for walks and it isn't going to be outgrown until like 5 years old. Mountain buggy uban jungle might suit you or the out and about nipper 360 - less storage space in the out and about. Depends what type of dog walking you do - I go over all sorts of level mud and never get stuck.
I use it for the nursery run as well so it's not used in the car often.
I picked it up second hand for a really good price so you could buy what ever pram you liked the look of and try and find an off roading type for walks.

Thank you all so much for your replies! It’s great to hear different thoughts and experiences. As a FTM I feel very clueless still.

@roachinghell I’ve been looking mostly on FB marketplace, and they’re either too far away, sell too quickly or they’re asking for like £800 still - which when you factor in the new car seat wouldn’t save me much! Yes I’m not too far from Manchester, if you could let me know I may have seen it I’ve been keeping an eye on a few!

@Lavender2021 Im hoping to take a year off so I’d say day to day is more of a focus but with the longer dog walks on the weekend or during summer evenings with DP. Nothing crazy, just woods/parks etc. That’s a good idea getting another second hand one or I think we’ll hopefully use a carrier. We need to get a lightweight travel one as well as have a wedding abroad this year! So many different requirements and no prams seems to suit all!

Think we will go and have another look at the M&P Ocarro’s as seeing good comments, I was just worried about the heaviness of it - but need to weigh it up again - literally!

Another vote for the ocarro. It's so sturdy and looks good too. I do agree it is very heavy but not to push, it's only the few seconds lifting it in and out of the car where I find it cumbersome.

I used wraps/ slings/ carriers a lot at first, however I actually upsized rather than downsizing my pram. I started with a maclaren (this was 10 years ago before stuff like baby zen yoyo came out) but I hated it and ended up with a big expensive bugaboo as my toddler grew up. It was great for days out, carrying a potty and a picnic, shopping etc. I used to call it my ship. When I had the second DC I put her in the sling and took the bugaboo with buggy board and they’d take turns in it. I think it’s hard to judge what you’ll need, I spent literally hours on the pushchair board here and I bought and sold various things before settling on the bugaboo. It all depends on terrain you cover, whether you have a car, whether your baby/ toddler naps on the go, where you live etc. I managed buses, tube, off road, everything with that bugaboo. Loved it.

Following as I’m also looking for a decent pushchair.

Although I have been told that 3 wheeler strollers are much better for long walks and bumpy areas - especially if you have small steps. I used to walk with a friend of mine and her 3 wheel stroller was great and caused no issues when taking very long walks and getting through bumpy areas and steps.
