Fainting in pregnancy - anyone else?

I'm 21 weeks and I've fainted for the 2nd time today.

1st time, I was probably dehydrated and overheated in a hot stuffy office ( 2 weeks ago ) I went to a&e, bloods, ecg and obs were normal

2nd time, was today, outside my GP surgery, I went hot and dizzy after my whooping cough

Again, a&e couldn't find anything wrong with my bloods, ecg or obs but I am still awaiting my iron blood results back.

I'm just concerned they're missing something, I felt well inbetween the two and my blood pressure is fine, although they think it might have dropped low before and during these episodes.

Has anyone else fainted in pregnancy before?

When I was pregnant with my second I used to wake in the middle of the night on occasion and be totally overwhelmed with sickness. Id get up, rush to the bathroom and I’d be on the toilet with really bad diarrhoea accompanied by horrific stomach pains at the same time as vomiting in the sink. I remember I’d black out on my way back to the bedroom. My partner caught me as I fell to the ground and each time.

All of my blood tests were totally normal, baby was absolutely fine at every scan and still is a lovely, healthy one year old. I have no idea why it happened but it was horrible when it did, maybe just ‘one of those things’.

Yes I fainted quite a few times in my 1st pregnancy. Once was at the checkout in Sainsburys when I was heavily pregnant. That scared the staff! 🙈 But other than assuming a drop in blood pressure they never found a reason and baby was fine.

It's hormonal changes that can cause fainting as well as low blood pressure. Usually more common in the first trimester, but still not an uncommon symptom. These hormone changes are what are thought to cause pregnancy sickness too. So I doubt it's something serious being missed, just make sure your midwife is aware, and keep yourself well hydrated and don't let yourself overheat etc.

In the first half of my first pregnancy I didn't completely faint but I had to really cut down the time and temperature of my showers as I'd be so close to fainting, multiple times. I'd often have to get out mid shower and go and lie down as I was so close to blacking out. It eased a lot in the second half and both me and baby were fine.

Ive had two faint spells at work this pregnancy - i work as a theatre nurse and both times when fully scrubbed for a case - come over hot and faint, both times luckily motioned for a chair before i completely blacked out.

happened in last pregnancy too - culprit: when haven't eaten breakfast as happen around early morning (9-10ish) Proper augar and blood pressure dip. Keep small healthy snacks in bag for busier days’
