Hi, i am 33 weeks 2 days with di/di twins, I hate ringing hospitals/midwives I always feel like I'm wasting their time. Anyway, my fingers are slightly swollen I noticed it two days ago I've had to take my ring off because of it. I woke up around 2am today shaking and feeling very dizzy I got up and went to the bathroom and I have quite a jazzy bath mat 🤣 I couldn't stand to look at it it made my head feel like it was wobbling. I went back to bed still shivering and feeling sick and I must have fell asleep because that was it til I got up this morning. I've felt drained all day, no energy, just want to lay down. I can't describe it I just don't feel right. But I don't want to ring the hospital and say "hi sorry I just don't feel right " 🫣 I don't know what to do.

Ring 100% they would rather speak to you and put your mind at rest or check you over

porridgecrumble · 01/01/2024 14:10

Ring them. Never take a risk with your health or your pregnancy. Twin pregnancies are higher risk anyway.

SnowSnow · 01/01/2024 14:11

Give them a call. When I was pregnant last year I mentioned at an appointment that I had come home from work feeling dizzy a few days before and they asked why I didn’t call.

cryinglaughing · 01/01/2024 14:11

It can't hurt to ring them. Either they will reassure you, or they will ask you to come in.
I doubt very much they will think bad of you for ringing.

MissionImpossible3 · 01/01/2024 14:11

Absolutely and definitely go in straight away. They would far rather that you went in and get checked out

porridgecrumble · 01/01/2024 14:11

Tell them exactly what you said in your post.

pingusslappyfeet · 01/01/2024 14:12

Not to alarm but I had pre-eclampsia. Started with visual disruption and dizziness. Ring them.

Riverlee · 01/01/2024 14:12

You’re pregnant, with swelling, and feeling rough?! Get yourself down to hospital straight away! At worst, they’ll say it’s a winter bug and will send you home. However, better to be safe than sorry.

They will take you seriously, and you’re not wasting anyone’s time. I wouldn’t even ring anyone, but take yourself straight down to your local a and e/maternity unit.

Ratad · 01/01/2024 14:13

It’s so much easier to say to someone else when they’re pregnant than it is to yourself when it’s you but definitely phone and they might want you to go in for a few checks. They are literally there for that reason

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 01/01/2024 14:13

Ring. Sounds how my pre eclampsia started. Sickness, can’t lay down, can’t stand up, dizziness, whole leg swelled up. They induced me.

Miscellaneousme · 01/01/2024 14:13

Absolutely call your maternity unit now, and get checked out.

nocoolnamesleft · 01/01/2024 14:14

Call them. Could be preeclampsia.

Whatsthestorynow · 01/01/2024 14:14

As others have said you must call them OP! Don’t worry about seeking silly, this could be pre-eclampsia

TeaKitten · 01/01/2024 14:14

Phone them - you have pre eclampsia symptoms. And actually, just not feeling right is a perfectly good reason to phone too!

Riverlee · 01/01/2024 14:15

Following on from @pingusslappyfeet post, I just looked up pre-eclampsia symptoms.

As pre-eclampsia progresses, it may cause:

  • severe headaches
  • vision problems, such as blurring or seeing flashing lights
  • pain just below the ribs
  • vomiting
  • sudden swelling of the feet, ankles, face and hands
Please get yourself down to a and e NOW!

Phone definitely

GreatGateauxsby · 01/01/2024 14:16

I am 34 weeks pregnant with my 2nd

The rings.. Meh it happens...

Everything else 💯 get checked out.
Call or just go to MDU right now and get a full once over.

whiteboardking · 01/01/2024 14:16

Call & get ready to go in

Patriciaspantry · 01/01/2024 14:17

Please alert a family member or friend, ring your midwife, and ask her whether you can go in to be checked or go to A &E? Be quite assertive (get a family member on side if you feel too ill) and fight to be seen op. Don’t feel embarrassed or be hesitant. You often have to be assertive to get the most basic of care in the NHS nowadays sadly. If you don’t want to do it for yourself then think of it as taking care of your babies! Good luck!

theprincessthepea · 01/01/2024 14:19

Call them and explain everything you just said. It’s not a waste of time.

JustExistingNotLiving · 01/01/2024 14:26

Another call for you to ring your MW/hospital asap

ExcitingRicotta · 01/01/2024 14:28

Call them now, that’s what they’re there for !

Amyy44 · 01/01/2024 14:36
