Hi, I'm just over 32 weeks with twins and have just tested positive for covid (3rd time and second christmas with it woohoo🫠🤣)
I felt awful yesterday afternoon and evening I went to bed at 7pm I felt so drained I was sweating and just feeling rubbish. Did a test yesterday but it was negative. Felt a lot better today but my daughter woke up feeling rubbish thought better do another test, yep, both positive. I don't feel too bad at all and my daughter announced 5 mins before we did the tests that she felt a lot better compared to this morning 🫣 .. is there any need telling my hospital or anything? I aren't due another appointment til the 4th so should be fine by then didn't know if I needed to inform my consultant with me having the twins.... apart from a snotty nose and being a bit tired I feel OK, just a worry with the twins. Anyone been in similar situation? tia 😊

Advice is rest, hydrate and paracetamol. Any breathing issues or concerns then ring them straight away but otherwise treated the same as a cold now

Ahh good thats what I was hoping to hear, thank you 😊

You might need injections to prevent covid related blood clots so probably is worth a call to your midwife

Oh really? I've never heard of anything like that? I am already on fragmin injections and aspirin for blood clots anyway with me having twins ... 😖

I'm currently pregnant and this is exactly what I've been told at every midwife appointment. You phone the PAU/MAU, they'll check any other criteria against their score sheet (weight, family history, age maybe??) and if you "score" a certain number of points you're asked to come in for injections to reduce the risk of blood clots.

This is not the advice for pregnant women. Even the NHS site advises you to phone your midwife or maternity hospital.

@hellojelly ive just had my baby and never once had anyone tell me anything other than to treat as a cold unless you develop more serious symptoms. Sounds like OP also hasn’t been told anything like that either, especially as she’s feeling better so will likely be advised to manage at home, I did state she can call if she has concerns.

Phone midwife/maternity. I did and in my case there was nothing needed other than controlling the fever, but they might need to assess other risks.

That doesn't change the fact you've so confidently told OP what the advice is, when that's not actually the advice at all.

PickledScrump · 29/12/2023 10:10

@hellojelly it is the advice I was given in my last two pregnancies, and still given in my area so yes it’s the advice I’ve do confidently passed on. Hope you’re day gets better 🙂

Thanks everyone at the moment I feel absolutely fine apart from a snotty nose so I think I'll hold off ringing anybody unless I start to feel worse. Covid hasn't been discussed at all during this pregnancy so I assumed it wasn't a big thing unless you felt really unwell. I have an appointment on the 4th anyway and this I think is day 3 of it thankfully I feel fine, twins are kicking like theres no tomorrow 🤣 i did have covid in my last pregnancy but very early on around 10 weeks, and i felt awful that time. My main concern was because im in the third trimester and they are twins but they are di/di so quite low risk for a multiple pregnancy anyway i think ? Anyway thankyou everyone I will see how I go for now x
