Pregnant. Christmas Day. Mother in law made me try edible pollen by mouth of all things! Just googled not safe. Gutted. Help. Ruined the day for me now.

I'm sure you'll be fine. Try not to worry.

I'm sure you'll be fine. I dont know why the day is ruined!

Whataretheodds · 25/12/2023 17:59

How much did you have? I suspect a tiny amount? It will be fine

Mc36 · 25/12/2023 18:06

Less than a quarter of a teaspoon. She put it in my hand to try and said go on be brave and knock it back! Flipping heck.

That will be absolutely fine.

KnittingKnewbie · 25/12/2023 19:44

Pollen? Like from bees?
You'll be fine. Why would you not be?

If pollen was detrimental to pregnancies nobody would ever need an abortion. They'd just take pollen.

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 25/12/2023 19:48

What type of pollen? Plenty of flowers are totally edible and totally safe - it depends which plant it's from?

Mc36 · 25/12/2023 23:31

Internet is saying it might cause contractions. But I can’t find any actually evidence behind that and some comment about maybe being tested on cows! Who knows! Going to try not to worry. Can’t change it now anyway. Thanks for replying. Just needed somewhere to direct my panic whilst in the moment at a family gathering!

How many weeks are you? Similar to what PP said…if pollen caused contractions people wouldn’t be spending days in hospital being induced

Mc36 · 26/12/2023 00:34

8 weeks

It's natural to be nervous about being pregnant. But there is literally nothing that will actually harm the baby except drugs, pharmaceuticals, alcohol, cigarettes and Vitamin A ie paté, liver (and all that is dosage dependent)

None of the food myths are true. There is nothing that is inherently harmful to a foetus, just some things that carry a higher risk of food poisoning. Which itself is not definitely detrimental to a foetus
