Covid at 35 weeks

I have covid and I'm 35 weeks pregnant. I feel quite poorly with it, hot, fatigued, breathless, sore throat, congested etc.

Has anybody else had this recently, were you and baby ok?

Did you get the COVID jab?

If you did it will hopefully take the edge off for both you and baby.

Wishing you well!

How many days into it are you? Are you vaccinated and do you have someone to look after you?

MegaMeg2710 · 20/12/2023 12:03

I had it at the same time, 35-37 weeks, I took ages to be negative. I was absolutely fine, my son was too and he is now a wild 20 month old…but I don’t think that’s related.

My daughter had chicken pox and I also had to have my son turned during that time, they set up a Monsters inc style decontamination tent for me 🤣🙃

Bottom line, we all were and are fine.

Yes I am vaccinated and had the booster in my second trimester (thankfully!). I've had a mild sore throat all week so it's hard to tell which day this is, but definitely the worse day today.

And I'm pretty much on my own looking after a toddler as well.

I've just had it at 14 weeks. Still shattered and have a lingering headache but feeling well within myself. I think it's just going to take longer to feel fully recovered. 🤞

Have you spoken to your pregnancy assessment unit? Ours have said they need to check on an individual basis about whether you'd need blood thinning injections to reduce the risk of any clots through covid.

Edgeofthesea · 20/12/2023 14:48

I had it in 2021 at about 33 weeks. A couple of days of being run down, fever, breathless, but was fine well within a week. It felt like a bad cold, much the same as when i had it not pregnant.

My midwives weren't concerned - weirdly, there seems to be more worry about picking up covid now I'm pregnant with my next baby. I'm not vaccinated and Covid was very manageable and baby was totally healthy (9lbs13oz at birth, apgar score 10, no health issues, breastfed immediately, natural labour etc, totally textbook and perfect). My husband who is vaccinated is the one who picked up covid first and gave it to me, and he was much poorlier. Hope you feel better soon x

I had it at 38 weeks I'm unvacced had no problems at all. Worked in my favour as due to it. We had a private room away from every one else and 1-1 care! I just drunk honey and lemon & ginger to soothe my throat and chest and slept mainly. Baby is now 1 on Monday.

I had it recently at 28 weeks. I rang the maternity unit for advice - worth doing in case they need to give you blood thinners ( I didn't need this). I felt ghastly for about a week and really congested. Best natural remedy I found for the congestion was this drink https://ohsheglows.com/my-favourite-hot-detox-tonic/, though I made it with honey instead of maple syrup and frozen ginger because I had no ginger tea.

Thank you for those who have responded, I'm pleased to hear nobody experienced any major complications.

I have spoken to my midwife and do not need any medication, so just need to ride it out. Feeling awful now, almost feels like the flu... just in time for Christmas!
