Hi, I'm super nervous posting about this and asking for any advice you may have.

I've recently lost 4 stone but I'm still obese. I've been working really hard to lose weight to be a good weight for pregnancy.

I tried for a long time before this and just couldn't catch.
So I'm 4 (ish) weeks pregnant and beyond happy but I'm really stressed about my weight.
(I'm 260 lbs and 5'9)

I don't know what I'm asking for, maybe just some reassurance and advice.
I'm also planning on completely staying healthy and active through this.

Don't be so hard on yourself ❤️ you've already lost 4 stone and personally I think that's pretty amazing!

What has your Dr/HCP said?

I think that's the important thing, not what Mumsnetters feel.

I'm waiting on my first appointment. I will of course be asking then.

I was looking for other people's experiences.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! Would just focus on going through all the usual pregnancy highs and lows, your body can do this, just look after yourself! They weigh everyone at first appointment, nothing to be scared of, it helps them put you on the right pathways and make sure you get all care you need.
Also even if you don't stay active in first trimester for example, don't beat yourself up about it, a lot of pregnant women just focus on getting through the day with all the nausea and pains! you might find the energy to get active comes back in 2nd trimester, or it might not.
Keep up your vitamins and good balanced diet, the baby will take all the nutrients it wants from your body.

Hi @Jojo1123
Firstly - congratulations!! And huge respect to you for losing so much weight! That's amazing and you should look at that as a huge positive at how far you've come. Please try and hold on to that.
I am pregnant with my 3rd (I'm 41 and my youngest is 10 Shock). With my first I was quite overweight when I became pregnant and I took the "eating for 2" literally! I put on a lot of weight, I would hazard a guess at 4 stone. I can't say for sure because I refused to be weighed. The pregnancy went great, no gestational diabetes or pre-eclampsia etc. DD was born via emergency c-section after her heart rate went crazy and she was not a happy baby during labour and she was a fairly large 9lb 9oz.
I lost a lot of weight after the pregnancy through diet and exercise and with DD #2 I was smaller when I became pregnant (always gonna be a big girl though) and I walked with a friend pretty much every day of my pregnancy. I developed gestational diabetes and had another emergency c-section. DD was 8lb 4oz so a little smaller than my first.
This time around (am 10 weeks) I'm definitely at my highest weight (230lbs) in a long time. Losing weight after 40 seems to be almost impossible! Also, I like snacks! I am trying to be more relaxed about it, having been big for both previous pregnancies and knowing how they both turned out.
My advice to you, for what it's worth, and what I'm doing, is to be kind to yourself and not stress out. I try to make healthy choices with food and exercise as much as I can, but sometimes, the bag of buttons calls to me and I indulge. If you're feeling good enough to go for a walk, or any other kind of exercise you feel, take that walk. I am doing my best to keep active and eat well. If you feel like a treat, have it! I am monitoring my weight more closely this time round, but not stressing when the scales move a little, you're growing a human! That's amazing! And the number on the scale is going to go up.
I hope this helps Smile

You’ve got this OP! I’m a fellow plus size mum to be at 35 weeks. Your midwife will explain any perceived risks and extra screening offered with a higher BMI at the booking in appointment (like the gestational diabetes test, higher dose of folic acid). So far everything’s gone very smoothly (blood pressure has been fine and no gestational diabetes) and my weight has hardly been mentioned at appointments, only in a very matter of fact and respectful way. Best of luck and congratulations!
