Concerns about Pregnancy Symptoms

I am currently 9 weeks and 1 day pregnant. Since around week 6, I've experienced consistent evening nausea, although I haven't been vomiting. However, in the last two days, my breast soreness has lessened, and while I still have some nausea, it's not as intense as it has been in the past few weeks. This sudden change has sparked concerns, especially since online searches suggest it could indicate a silent miscarriage. The anxiety is causing stress, and I'm unsure if the stress is contributing to the mild nausea. My scan is scheduled for the beginning of January, which is causing additional anxiety. I have my first midwife appointment this weekend and plan to discuss these concerns, but it being my first pregnancy adds to the uncertainty.

Symptoms can come and go. It's an anxious time when your early on in your pregnancy but all pregnancies are different. With my first I was sick a couple of times and felt nauseous between 6- 10 weeks and a lot of food aversions. With my second I had no symptoms at all. I didn't have breast tenderness with either. It's hard in the first trimester especially if it's your first pregnancy and your not telling people yet. Your symptoms sound completely normal to me and not something I'd worry about. Hope that helps ease your mind a bit.

It is comforting to receive your reassurance! 100% the sense of isolation that comes with keeping the pregnancy news confined to just my husband. The wait for the first scan and the anticipation of ensuring everything is okay can be quite anxiety-inducing. I appreciate your message and the time you took to share your experience xx

As above, sounds pretty normal. I booked a private early scan with both of my pregnancies to help put my mind at ease as once there's a heartbeat miscarriage is much less likely so I was able to relax a little bit.

I had really intense nausea and was sick multiple times in my first trimester and then there were some days when I didn’t feel that sick and it would panic me massively. Symptoms can vary from day to day/ week to week but I would definitely recommend speaking to your midwife when you have the appointment.

i had 2 private scans before my 12 weeks because I was feeling pretty anxious about it so I totally understand your anxiety.

I thought this around week 9 too, if I remember rightly my symptoms came back a few days later! I think I even posted about it at the time. It’s around this time your placenta might take some of the load too which will reduce symptoms.

This sounds like me! I had awful evening nausea that tapered off at around 9 weeks. Pregnancy continued completely normally and my symptoms went up and down the whole time. Try not to worry, although I know that's easier said than done

My nausea was terrible at 8 weeks and tapered off at 9ish weeks. Enjoy the break of sickness. Mine did come back with vengeance a couple weeks later for a short period.

Easier said than done, but try to take each day as it comes. It'll go fast.

I booked in extra private scans throughout the pregnancy for reassurance, if that's something that would help you (it did for me).

Congratulations 🎉

I have contemplated whether to book an early private scan but have tried to calm myself down to see if symptoms come back with a vengeance in a few days. I'm meeting a midwife for my first appointment on Saturday so hoping to speak with her and get some advice.

I think after meeting my midwife on Saturday if the symptoms continue to lessen whilst I enter week 10 I will definitely look into a private scan.

Here's hoping this is the reason behind it and my placenta is doing all the hard work. I'm really hoping everything is okay and my pregnancy is just allowing me a few kinder days for all the horrible evenings I've experienced so far.

I'm trying to convince myself I'm just being treated to few kinder days and the symptoms will come back harder than ever. However, as each day goes by it does naturally cause worry especially when I can't speak to anyone about it - I've felt quite alone which is why this platform helps so much to hear from other women!

I know how you are feeling. I'm 13 weeks pregnant and have had 4 scans: IVF so had a viability scan at 6 weeks then I got scared at 8 weeks because I had zero symptoms so went for another scan (they were offering a half price deal!) My NHS dating scan they couldn't get all the measurements so we had to go back a week later. Every scan I was petrified then relieved for a day or 2 then petrified again. I still have no symptoms at all and am still anxious. If an early scan will ease your anxiety go and get one it's a long time to wait until 12 weeks but it's also worth knowing that unless you have obvious signs it's going wrong then the chances are everything will be fine.

I’ve had horrific morning sickness throughout pregnancy but I did still get the odd day or two where I felt a bit more normal.

If you are worried and can afford it (think they’re about £80) you can book a private reassurance scan. I had mine around 9 weeks cuz I just couldn’t get my head around there being a baby in me! You could probably get an appointment before Christmas I reckon. I found it really reassuring.
