Hey,
I'm 17+4 with baby number 2 I have an anterior placenta. I'm just wondering when everyone felt/saw big kicks?
I didn't have it with my little girl so not sure when to expect it.
Took 3.5 years for us to get pregnant with this baby so very excited to finally feel big kicks.
I'm also a uk size 18.

21w FTM

My first was fundal and I felt first kicks about 19 weeks. Second and third were anterior and I felt first kicks about 19/20 weeks. I didn't know the mother's weight made a difference, but I'm a size 10/12 if that helps.

Im not sure if size does make a difference I think I'm just over worrying lol, so hopefully I should feel them soon! Was they big kicks you felt? X

I didn't really feel much until 24 weeks or so and found it very stressful that people kept asking me!

Yeah it's really stressful to me too.. I don't really feel pregnant. It doesn't feel real and I'm really not enjoying the pregnancy as I'm constantly worrying if baby is okay 😢

No, first kicks, so just wee flutters.

Anterior placenta, size 8.

Got flutters around 17/18 weeks (more certain in hindsight than at the time!) but nothing my husband could feel until about 20 weeks.

YogiYogiBear · 18/12/2023 14:56

I felt bubbles from about 16 weeks but was 22/23 before I felt kicks and a few more weeks before I could see big movements. I was a size 8 before becoming pregnant.

Movements are sometimes really subtle even now at 31 weeks and I've been in several times for monitoring. I've been told by other though that near the end they'll become more normal.

Midwife said as long as you feel some movement by 24 weeks not to worry.

Sure -14 normally, with fat mostly round my belly and a tendency to bloat! Now 34w and have felt much bigger kicks and movements the last couple of weeks. C 24 weeks was more movement than 21w, but at 21w I definitely felt stuff i knew was the baby, and felt like I could see movement from the outside. No patter Ln at that stage though, not until at least 24w

It is a bit disconcerting as most of my 1st trimester symptoms subsided so apart from the enlarged bump and the kicking I could have kidded myself there was nothing else happening. Boobs less tender too.

Whataretheodds · 18/12/2023 15:13

Your weight won't make a difference to what you can feel internally-you don't have a bigger uterus at size 18 than size 10 - the placenta will cushion, though.

GB91 · 18/12/2023 15:15

I'm 22 weeks with anterior placenta and just started feeling bubble sensations a few days ago, one time that felt like a proper 'kick' but nothing my partner can feel yet

ActDottie · 18/12/2023 23:47

I’m 36 weeks with a front placenta. I felt flutters around 18 weeks but even now I don’t feel really strong kicks :( and definitely can’t film my bump moving like some people :( I just make sure I feel her move every day but sometimes it is just a flutter :( I think it’s just one of those things when you have a front placenta

XenaTheWarriorPrincess · 19/12/2023 02:15

I have anterior too, low lying. First felt flutters around 16 weeks and now at 21 weeks it's more obvious and frequent but still not proper kicks

I've felt one definite kick so far, a few days ago.

I was told its normal to not feel anything at all until up to 24 weeks and with anterior it can take longer to feel stronger kicks as the placenta cushions them.

Size 16 prepregnancy

I think I was between 19-23 weeks with baby no2!

shivawn · 19/12/2023 02:20

Around 22 weeks I think before I started feeling fairly significant kicks rather than flutters. By the end of my pregnancy the movements were just as big and strong as they were with my first baby who I had a posterior placenta with.

lamppost123 · 19/12/2023 03:17

I'm a 14. Often at triage because I didn't feel him move....

essynemo · 19/12/2023 05:35

I was often at MAU due to not feeling baby move- ended up induced at 38+4 because of reduced movements too! i had an anterior placenta and didn’t feel bigger movements until around 34 weeks..

By that time could see her pushing from the outside and feel big pushing movements but didn’t get any of the tiny baby kicks!
I felt some flutters from around 24/25 weeks but never managed to establish a pattern of movement 🙁

Baby was small when she was born though so i wonder if she was just very well hidden!

lamppost123 · 19/12/2023 05:54

My baby was born 39 weeks on a c section, he was 4kg 8/13 (I think).

I'm short. He was moving away when hooked up on the machines, I just didn't feel him.

Maybe as it's your second it may be different.

Dyra · 19/12/2023 13:53

I still swear I felt my second super low down with an anterior high placenta around 13 weeks. Shortly before the scan anyway. I figured it was gas until the bubbling I could feel matched up with the location of the wriggling I could see at the scan. It was infrequent until about 18 weeks, then he regularly booted me everywhere he could. Size 20.

Thankyouthankyoujellybean · 19/12/2023 22:46

Pregnancy #3, second time with an anterior placenta, boo hiss. Felt something around 22 weeks and now at 30 weeks can feel a decent bit if I concentrate. Lying down and drinking cold water gets her going!

At my 20 week scan she was dancing like crazy and I couldn't feel a thing.

CR7 · 19/12/2023 23:18

21 weeks to the day

MrsTosh87 · 20/12/2023 05:05

29+6wks, size 16/18 prepregnancy. Felt kicks from 23 wks, feels like little air bubbles to me. Unless she kicks hard, I can't feel her without concentrating. I've only just started feeling her above the belly button now. Can't discern when she turns over or re positions but when she starts kicking with some strength, I can feel her. She also can be stubborn and not kick back when I find her and rub above her. Sides and underneath bump are still the best places for me to feel her. Still worry on occasion about not feeling her. Went to triage last night as I couldn't detect her moving for a few hours and when I was hooked up to the monitor, she made it a game of trying to kick the probes away. I could hear her moving through the monitor but I don't feel when she twists and turns. I'm hoping as she gets bigger it'll become more obvious.
