Is 31 weeks too early to start maternity leave?

For context, I work in a pub so it's long days on my feet. I had already handed my notice in when I found out I was pregnant and so went back on it but have been miserable at work ever since. There's about to be new staff and they have already cut my hours. I want to cut my losses and leave on good terms once christmas is over but I'll only be 31 weeks. I'm not planning on going back, is this too early?

Not at all, if you feel you need to start then go for it. I took annual leave at 29 weeks and started maternity at 33 weeks with ds.

Well I had my baby at 31 weeks so wish I’d have started my mat leave earlier! As it happened, I was at work at the time.

Your job is a physically demanding one and you are only going to struggle more as the weeks go on.

If you can afford it then no reason to stay there if it's making you miserable.

I would, if you can afford it.
I could not have been on my feet all day at nearly 7 months. I don't know how hairdressers do it either.

If you can afford it why not. I am also 31 weeks but work in an office so going up to 39 if all goes to plan so I have more time off after with baby x
