Hi all, currently only 15dpo lines are progressing nicely. Just want to ask some silly first timer questions.
(UK)
When do I call doctors and sort all that out ?
Can I still do some heavy lifting. Iw irk in a physical job, should I already be cutting back the weight load?
I know first scan is 12 weeks unless privately done.
Any dos and don'ts?
Nervous but some scored hoping it sticks and we have a happy healthy pregnancy

Congratulations! It probably varies by area but for me you called the Gp surgery and reception gave you a number to ring midwives for your booking appointment. Do that asap. Again will vary but that was for about 9 weeks and they give you a 12wk scan date.

Re the lifting, do you feel comfortable informing a manager right away? They should do a risk assessment and perhaps change some duties. With exercise though in general you are advised you can continue doing what you are used to doing. But you may find it easier to injure yourself in the early stages of pregnancy due to hormones making ligaments etc more stretchy. I remember finding it weird I had a really sore back in first trimester when there was no bump to carry - it’s the relaxin hormone.

Everyone has different experiences but for me the bone crushing fatigue of the first trimester was a shock. I literally could’ve curled in a ball on the ground any time and pass out. So plan to be active if you can but don’t be alarmed if you just need to nap, hibernate and eat beige food!

Thank you so much, I feel so fatigued and queezy already 😂 did my 12 hour shift today and could've fell asleep stood up.
I'm only approx 4 weeks so I shall wait till after Christmas before ringing the doctors I think just to make sure it still progresses.
Thank you

Call doctors/midwife line dependent on your healthboard asap. Helps them schedule scans and booking in appt (8-10wks pregnant).

Physical lifting risks your health, not so much baby's. As above you need a risk assessment via line manager and management plan.

Scans are 12 and 20 weeks as standard.

Start folic acid asap, plus vitamin D.

Avoid all alcohol, smoking, check your medications for any contraindications.

Check NHS list for what you can and can't eat.

Any bleeding, weird pain etc the contact is the Early Pregnancy Assessment Service (EPAU/EPAS) - worth researching your local number and opening hours.
