Do some babies just not move much?

I’m 32 weeks pregnant and my son really doesn’t move that much. I’ve been in twice for reduced movement and had an extra scan but everything looks fine.

It’s very hard to know when there’s reduced movement when they don’t move much as it is.

I hear people saying they can’t sleep for their baby moving, I generally don’t feel movement all night and only a bit every few hours during the day.

I know they say it’s what’s normal for you, but is this generally normal to have such a quiet baby?

Hi OP, I was the same with my DD. I had an anterior placenta but she never really moved much, the odd flurry of movement but nothing like I was expecting, mostly hiccups. Does your baby have a pattern that they follow? I also got checked a couple of times for reduced movement (always better to be safe than sorry) and my baby was fine every time.
I think some babies may move a bit less bit they should follow a pattern, it's always better to get checked if you're worried.

Do you have an anterior placenta by any chance? Seriously cushions any movement baby is making.
The key is knowing your own baby's patterns and what is normal/ reduced for them. And never hesitate to contact your midwife, yes they are busy but your care is their job.

Yes I have an anterior placenta so sounds like that’s contributing.

If I call triage about it they always say come in, but each time it’s been a c5 hour visit by the time I wait to be seen etc. which is difficult to fit in when working full time and with a toddler. Plus given they’re so busy I feel bad taking up resources if it’s just that I have a lazy baby.

Hi OP, it's so hard when you have a busy life, but I think with movements if you're even slightly concerned I'd get it checked, it's just never worth the risk. I know all hospital's are different, but at mine if you had 3 episodes of reduced movements they did a scan to make sure everything was okay. I hope all is okay with your little one X

My son was a very lazy baby. I did have anterior placenta which didn't help but he hardly moved at all. I felt like I went lots for reduced movements but it probably wasn't all that much really

With my anterior placenta I felt very little movements. Just little flutters / kicks here and there to know that they are alive and well.

Yes my 2nd dc, once he was out he didn’t stop though…crawled at 5.5 months 🙈
