Get your BP checked at the midwife this week? Or call the midwife advice line? Esp if you have any swelling or vision problems etc

it’s likely caused by hormone changes but best to get it checked by a midwife if you haven’t already. Make sure your drinking plenty and paracetamol is fine to take in pregnancy

Thank you, I will give them a call Monday as I don't seem to have an out of hours number and my next midwife appointment isn't for another 2 weeks x

If the headache is really bad i would call the antenatal natal unit where you are booked in, call the hospital switchboard and ask for the antenatal unit triage number? It's probably nothing but easy to get checked

Headaches in pregnancy

Mild headaches can be caused by dehydration or hormones and are common in pregnancy. Find out how you can prevent headaches during pregnancy.

I had terrible headaches in both my pregnancies. Obstetrician said they were hormone related. I found that I felt dehydrated however much water I drank - the rehydration sachets you can get for after you've had a stomach bug seemed to help, and lessened the headaches somewhat. I did develop high BP towards the end of both pregnancies but funnily enough the headaches stopped before the high BP developed so I don't think they were related.

Headaches are really common in pregnancy and if paracetamol hasn't helped, I'd guess it's likely a migraine. Migraines are also common in pregnancy. I actually have one right now.

You usually need to catch a migraine early to medicate it, and it doesn't always do anything.

As others have said, definitely get your BP and that checked, but assuming all is well just make sure you drink a metric crap tonne of water to stay hydrated and pop a paracetamol at the very onset of any migraine or headache.

Turn the lights off, be in a quiet room with a warm compress on your head, might help a little.

I'm in the same situation! I'm 14 weeks and have been getting weekly migraines since 11 weeks. This weekend my headache lasted 3 days, it was brutal. I called up my midwife and she said to call 111 but it's likely 'just' from the increased hormones! Thankfully I feel better today but it is so uncomfortable.
I think it's quite common!

I had bad headaches at the beginning of the 2nd tri, loads of days, some migraines, was just hormones and it did settle a lot, midwife said it was normal... bp not likely to be the cause at this early stage but also good to keep an eye on it but not a cause for panic 😊
