2nd normal pregnancy after ectopic

This maybe a really silly Q.

I had an ectopic pregnancy 10 years ago. I’ve subsequently had a normal pregnancy and had assumed this meant I’ve no risk of ectopic now. I’m TTC and suddenly wondering if I’m wrong and is there a risk of ectopic?

I had the affected tube removed as a result of the ectopic so my normal pregnancy was through other tube which I assumed meant it’s fine

I've not had this experience myself, but I was told after my ectopic earlier this year to come into the EPU for a positioning scan for every pregnancy I might experience in the future.

You need an early scan for every pregnancy after an ectopic to check the location.

I had an ectopic pregnancy last year. Lost a tube. I had a pregnancy this spring, scan at 5+2 showed it was located in utero but I miscarried.

When I found out I was pregnant again in September I had a scan at 5+3 to confirm location. I've been told any future pregnancies will require an early location scan still.

Thanks both good to know. I am curious about the science behind this. My understanding was if one tube was blocked the other might be too, and assumed that if I had normal pregnancy it meant that tube was fine.

Did they look at your other tube during your surgery?

I had mine last year and they said the only thing of note was the ectopic itself. Both tubes otherwise looked healthy. I was told I still needed early scans though.

@DemelzaRobins i don’t know…I don’t think they mentioned but I’ve subsequently had a healthy baby so I assumed it was all ok henceforth but maybe not
