Mummy MOT

Has anyone ever done a Mummy MOT? Did you find it useful? Do they help with back pain? I have strong back pain which has worsened since giving birth and now I can barely walk most days-a slow shuffle can make me feel like crying. It is early days and my pregnancy involved bedrest and over a week in hospital after the birth so I am not very active but I can't live like this and think a Mummy MOT might help.

What does it involve? If it's been less than 3 months I'd say give your body a break, it's still full of hormones.

Yes they'd be able to help (they are physios) and you can go from 6 weeks post partum. They mostly look at pelvic floor and abs so if the back is the main issue maybe book a general appointment with a physio that specialises in women's health (as they'll know more about how pregnancy impacts the body). Please don't live in pain!

If it involves seeing a women’s physio then yes I would definitely recommend it to anyone, especially in your situation.

Sorry you’re in so much pain, there will definitely be things a physio can help with. Pelvic floor, pelvic tilt and back pain are all related and it sounds like you need someone to have a good look at you.

You should also be able to access a physio through your GP though - might be worth perusing that first before paying for a physio.

The phrase mummy MOT makes me want to scratch my eyes out though..

Thanks folks. I'll look into a women's physio. It is possible that things will settle as the hormones settle but a big back to back baby may have moved things around and I might need some. help.
@DuploTrain Typing Mummy MOT made me cringe slightly but I think that's the known term!

Yes yes yes - highly recommend. Just a heads up....be prepared for an internal examination as well. She checked my scar and also had a feel while I squeezed my pelvic floor (I think they check for prolapse this way) I wasn't prepared for this and it was a bit embarrassing!
