Nosebleeds

Hi,

Does anyone know if being pregnant can somehow influence nosebleeds?

I've always suffered from them (combination of allergies and having broken my nose twice!!!) but as my PG progresses, they are getting worse and worse.

I can barely even touch my nose now without it starting to bleed... Mostly, the bleeds are pretty irrelevant, more inconvenient IYSWIM, but some are really quite heavy...

I've had 4 already today.... two quite bad.... where I just have to lie down and swallow blood for 15-20 minutes (Sorry if that's really gross)

I'm not taking any medication or exercise out of the ordinary, so I am not sure why they are so bad........ or why they seem to be getting worse?

Yep, you have a lot of extra blood circulating and lots of people find they have them for the first time or they get a lot worst. I feel sorry for you - whenever I have them I have to get my nose cauterised because it just doesn't stop.

Head forward, pinch nose, stay there for half an hour is the advice I got from A&E. After four hours they accepted it probably wasn't going to stop on it's own and stuck a lighted twig up there (yep gross I know!)

yeah it is normal. I had a few with my DS but not on this pregnancy. It will past though , it happens more in the first trimester from what I can remember. How many weeks are you?

They also say when you lie down to put something cold on your back. In other words lie on a cold bag you have in the fridge. Meant to stop the bleed quicker apparently.

Thanks, I hadn't thought about it like that....

I've had my nose cauterised loads of times - I am not sure it'd do any good at this point!

As long as it's nothing to worry about!

Thanks!

Nope. Sadly, like piles and a dodgy pelvic floor it's all part of the deep joy which is pregnancy

Aww... WMMC!!! You are spoilling all the fun!!!

I haven't got to those yet!!!

It's probably best, it's hard to get the pile cream out of the tube while pissing your pants and having a nose bleed

That made me laugh out loud (thankfully have't lost all feeling in my pelvic floor just yet, so PJs still dry )
