Hypertension/pre-eclampsia

I'm coming up 35 weeks
lots of risk factors for pre-eclampsia
i don't know what made me do it, my BP was ok when checked at the hospital last week, and i feel fine. But i got a BP machine at home and my numbers are high, like 140-150/80ish
i am now in a stew - have got a midwife appt on Friday and don't know if i should bring that forwards? I don't even know how easy that would be. Or call the unit maybe even? Or just stop measuring it?
i wish i hadn't started!

Don't worry, mention it on Friday but that blood pressure isn't high enough for concern.

I wouldn't leave it until Friday, no panic but contact your midwife in the morning and see what she says. If you can't get hold of her, ring maternity triage and just ask whether they want you to be seen earlier than Friday.
That blood pressure is too high and if you are developing pre eclampsia then the earlier things are caught and treated the better.

Dont wait.

Call your mw first thing tomorrow. You need to get your urine checked.

If you feel at all unwell call your maternity assessment unit immediately.

When my BP went over 14 my midwife sent me to the hospital for monitoring. A lot of home BP kits aren't approved for pregnancy use. Best get checked at the maternity monitoring ward (they tend to be open 24/7).

I'm sure they'll take great care of you!

In case it helps anyone in a similar situation - thanks to you guys I called the unit. Tgey were really kind, we were there about 8 hours, had the baby monitored, my BP taken loads of times, some blood tests, a wee sample, and small dose of a blood pressure tablet (labetolol). They have let me come home to monitor myself with a daily visit to pop in with my readings and a wee sample to see if i need to keep taking the meds.
when i arrived my BP was already 5-10 points better, i think maybe a better machine etc, and it improved more even before the meds were given (think i was a bit wound up) and my home readings are good, so will see what they say re meds later today but i am happy to take them if that is safest i will tell them
thanks all x
