Bottle feeding newbie

Hey all, I feel so silly asking as I’m due to have baby number 4…but I’m absolutely clueless about bottle feeding.
i have breast fed my other 3 children, introduced bottles much much later down the line but never from birth! 🥴🥴

can any seasoned bottle feeders offer advice please?
how much do they need from birth?
will I still produce milk even though I’m not stimulating for milk production?
do I need breast pads still?
how often do they need a bottle? 😂 I’m clueless

I bottle fed with my first (and plan to bottle feed my second also). I’m a bit rusty but this is what I remember.
We started off with the ready to feed which were 70ml/2.5 ounce made up bottles (they come with sterilised teats so perfect for taking into hospital). Once home we swapped to powdered formula but stuck with 3oz bottles initially and just took note of how much she was drinking. Once she was finishing the bottles, we would then increase by an ounce to ensure she was getting enough.
My first fed every 3 hours or so initially. We would just feed on demand when she woke as her weight was maintaining ok. If baby is premature/small or is losing weight then you may need to wake them every 3 hours to feed.
Your milk will still come in but should dry up after a few days if you make sure not to stimulate (good supporting bra, don’t let hot water run on them in the shower etc). It is still worth having breast pads for those few days but you won’t need lots.
That was my experience of bottle feeding. Hope this helps 😊

My milk didn’t really come in with my second as I had a c section and had to bottle feed (i tried to combi feed) as she was jaundiced. So you probably won’t need any breast pads or anything.

Same as previous poster, started on 2oz every 3 hours or when baby wants and then upped it according to babies needs. I tend to check the guide on the formula pot to make sure I’m not crazy over or under feeding.

I used a tommee tippee perfect prep from birth, not sure if that’s recommended though..

Also you may already know, don’t want to patronise but I didn’t know, sterilising is for any formula residue so you need to sterilise the whole time they have formula.

Our local hospital provides formula, there were 2 options of brands and I stuck with one, of course you can take your own but you need the pre made stuff, check with your midwife what they do in your district 😁

Thanks so much for your response! Luckily I just bought a new steriliser so will make sure to use that with everything ☺️
I will deffo look into different brands…there are so many different options to consider
