How would you spell this baby girl name in English?

DH and I come from different countries and none of us are native English speakers. The name we have chosen for our baby girl is common in both of our languages but we are not sure what's the best spelling for this in English so that it's pronounced as close to the original as possible.

What spelling would suggest for a girl's name that is pronounced like "John-ah".

So far we have thought of:

Jana
Jaana
Janna
Jaanaa

Any recommendations? or any of these spellings that we should avoid?

Is there a spelling that suggests the "j" in this name should be pronounced "j" and not "y"?

I'd say spell it Jaana, it'll hopefully make sure people get that it's two 'a' sounds which should get people saying it right, even if they don't get it right first time it's very easy to say in English once you know how. If you put an 'o' in the middle like Johnah people will think it's either a different spelling of the boys name Jonah (said with Joe at the start) or that it starts with a 'short jo like in John.

I think Jaana with it's two A's also signals to English speakers that it is a feminine name. So would be a good choice.

If you wanted a traditional English name that everyone is going to get right, I'd agree with other posters that Joanna is the closest we have to Jaana
