Hi,

I have been prescribed aspirin its not until ive looked at the packaging it mentions dissolving it in water. Is there an issue if you swallow them?

Also, it says to have just after food yet people on here have said they take it before bed as it can make people feel sick.

I will call EPU tomorrow but just wondered what peoples thoughts are? Any advice is appreciated x

Yes you will be fine, just dissolve in water from now on.

Yes I was prescribed dissolvable ones when I was pregnant but couldn't keep it down. Pharmacist and hospital consultant said its fine to swallow them whole if it's easier.

It can irritate the stomach, which is why recommended after food.

The dispersible one will be larger and probably start melting in your mouth and throat. Not harmful, but unpleasant taste and sensation.

I'm on baby aspirin for life following heart surgery. If you've been given it for blood thinning, you can ask for the GP to prescribe the coated version ro swallow whole - they are marginally more expensive which is why this isn't done routinely.

Or a month's supply is about £2 in Boots. It's usually in with the general painkillers on the shelves and is marked as gastro resistant.

I couldn't be arsed with dissolving every day!
