Pregnant after losing a fallopian tube to Ectopic Pregnancy

Hello,

I've just found I'm pregnant for the first time since I had emergency surgery for an ectopic pregnancy and appendicitis at the same time. As a result I lost my right tube and appendix. It's been 3 years.

I have two children already 10 and 6 years old so it's been quite a few years and every time feels like the first time.

I had a marina coil put in after surgery and recently had it removed this August. I had my first cycle in September, came right on time in October and to now (November) where I got my BFP the day my period was due - 25/11/2023

So id just like to hear anybody experience with pregnancy after an ectopic. Was it in the right place? Did you go on to have another ectopic?

Thanks 🥹

My Mum had both my brother and myself without any issues after losing a tube with an etopic. Best of luck to you.

I'm 13 weeks with my current pregnancy after losing my right tube just over a year ago due to an ectopic.

EPU scanned me at 5+3 and again at 7+3 to check location and that the pregnancy was developing normally. You should ask your GP to refer you for an early scan (if you haven't already).

Many women go on to have normal pregnancies after an ectopic. One of the nurses who cared for me when I had my surgery had two children after an ectopic. An EPU doctor I saw for this pregnancy was born after his mother's ectopic and also has a younger sibling. He said it's very common for women who've had an ectopic to go on and have a successful pregnancy.

Thank you so much. This is reassuring.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

This does make me feel a bit better, just all so worrying isn't it. Especially the idea of losing the remaining tube.

I will be calling the doctors tomorrow 🤞 How early can they see something on the scan?

I had an ectopic and lost my tube in June 2020. Didn't fall pregnant again until December 2020 but when I did it was in the right place and I'm currently snuggling my son to sleep. Wishing you so much luck.

My scan at 5+3 showed a clear gestational sac and yolk sac. By 7+3 we could see a larger gestational sac and a baby, plus the movement of the foetal heart beat.

How early a pregnancy can be seen can vary. EPU said if they didn't see anything at 5 weeks they'd look again at 6 weeks.
