Currently 24 weeks pregnant with my second child . I also have a 4 year old .
I work part time 16 hours a week and have been doing a bit of overtime not much but a few extra hours each week . I’ve had job centre on my back telling me I need to be working 30 hours not that i have an issue with working more but being pregnant it is affecting me mentally and physically . Child’s dad is involved but doesn’t live close by so is only down once every other weekend due to his job and the cost of getting down here so I’m pretty much on my own to look after our son so that on top of having to look for more work is causing so much stress for me .just wondering if anyone knows how long they will keep on at me to work more , I get a call every week or have to go down there to discuss my situation but feel like I can’t do anything right just wish they would focus there attention on the people who are not willing to work or even just look for work

We're you already living apart before you became pregnant again?

Youl
Probably find most will comment saying alot of us worked full time or at the least 30 hours a week while pregnant with a toddler that's at nursery or school.

That's kind of how it is

Why can't you live together op? I hear he works away does that mean you don't live together because in which case his earnings should be taken into account to help the household.

Sorry I'm just abit confused on what your asking?

You need to provide the MATB1 , you will be in the no work related requirement group for the 11 weeks up to your due take and the 15 weeks afterwards.

If you develop health issues in your pregnancy you can request a sick note from your GP requesting that you do limited hours due to your condition.

Check out "entitled to" website. UC are defo getting on people's backs about the 30 hours

You need to submit a MatB1 to UC if you have not done so so far. Your work search requirements will be switched off from when you are 29 weeks pregnant until the baby is 1.

Victoriacole · 23/11/2023 11:48

I made them aware I was pregnant when I was 17 weeks.I didn’t even think about the matb1 as they haven’t said anything about that but I have a meeting on Monday so I shall take my MATB1 with me .
would I be expected to look for work even on my maternity leave then . I’ll still be getting paid from work not the full amount but I do intend to return to work after my maternity is up , seems a little unfair considering there are people who just don’t refuse to work .
But Thank you for your help

Was just responding to the person above me who questioned why my partner doesn’t live with me . I have a habit of going into too much detail haha . thank you for the advice though

Entitled to give the full run down to check the circumstances but I believe if you are a sole person you are not expected to look for work till your child's first birthday

Duckling89 · 23/11/2023 12:18

I didn’t get a Matb1 form until my midwife appointment at 24 weeks. I think some places give it at the 20 week scan.

ttcsolomumtobe · 23/11/2023 12:32

No matter when your company issue the MATB1 the work requirements will stay in place till 11 weeks before due date, unless you have some kinda fit note advising to limit hours due to health or risk to pregnancy.

As a sole carer of a child under 3 (so when baby arrive) you won't be expected to look for work.

Gov website also has useful info but maybe consider speaking to CAB about your rights if you struggle with it yourself

@Victoriacole

I'm sorry I didn't read your post well this morning (brain fog Confused)

As posters above have said you should have your matb1 I think.

I don't think they will consider you entitled to work under 30 hours until the baby is born.

dothehokeycokey · 23/11/2023 13:28

@Victoriacole

It's a confusing system at times isn't it.

I also find that none of the government based agencies have a link to each other so communication between them and the general public is scarce.

Hope you get the info needed.

Incredibly confusing and just causes unnecessary stress. Different websites tell you different things so I just don’t know half the time if I’m doing the right thing or not .
thank you
