Hi,

I was told that the meds (each 3 times a day) should be taken till 12 weeks but just checked and only have enough to last till 11 weeks and 3 days.
Just wondered if anyone ran out of their IVF meds before the 12 weeks and did you request another weeks worth or just taper them down to 2 a day? If you tapered down was all fine?

I have been discharged from the IVF clinic now and don't know if my midwife will give me additional as it's not them or prescribed them, I will check with her tomorrow.

Thanks in advance

Also for anyone taking progesterone and estrogen, when you stopped at the 12 weeks did you notice any reduction in bloating or weight gain?

I know I'm guna gain weight in pregnancy but the meds have defo made it happen more from starting them and progrestone has defo slowed down metabolism

Can you contact your clinic to explain your mistake? I'm sure they can prescribe you some more to be delivered via Stork or something to make up the deficit :) I'm still on progesterone at nearly 16 weeks so can't comment on the bloating. I do seem to be more bump than bloat now though.

Oooo @TheBirdintheCave so excited to see your name and a number of weeks - congratulations 🩷. We were on the July or August group together, amongst others.

Yea I will probably give them a call

I didn't do IVF but was on progesterone and definitely noticed and improvement with bloating when I came off it at 13w

@ttcsolomumtobe Yes, I remember you too :) And thanks! I still struggle to believe it's real sometimes but then the baby wiggles and reminds me that it really is there.

@Whataretheodds thank you, fingers crossed I do too as so uncomfortable by late afternoon right through to bed no matter what I eat

@TheBirdintheCave that's so exciting. Yes doesn't feel real for me, feels like I'm still prepping my body with taking the meds.

I'm 22 weeks now with IVF baby. My clinic said then would start to wean me off my meds from 10 weeks, to stop at 11-12 weeks (I was on progesteron, cyclogest and prednisolone). My clinic was aboard and I got my updated protocol when I was back in UK - I was few days short on some drugs (had bought all the meds abroad as half the price of UK). NHS wouldn't have prescribed them for me and private pharmacy prescription was incredibly expensive. I contacted the clinic and they said absolutely fine to finish them early as it was only a few days. I was very nervous but everything was absolutely fine. I did a lot of reading and some clinics stop them from 9 weeks, some go much later....but I don't think there is any conclusive evidence that there is any benefit once you get past 10/11 weeks. I didn't notice any difference with the bloating - I was straight onto pregnancy bloating by then/that awkward bit where belly feels 'wide' but looks more fat than baby bump... but I did feel that my mood improved and I started to feel better (but then had morning sickness for circa 7 weeks!)
