Birthing plan...

I have been asked to write one for hospital but this is my first baby and as far as I am concerned, I'll take all drugs going and if I can't do it I am not going to stress about it as I'll go with a section if that's what is offered. As long as she arrives safely.

My midwife looked a bit alarmed that I didn't really have views on pain relief, water births and the rest but how do you know when you have not done it before?

I can have baby in either the midwife led unit which can't do epidurals or through the unit that has on-call anetheatists who can. I said, I'd go with the on-call lot. Don't know if I will need it but rather it was there an as option than not. I felt like I was an alien!#
How did you write your first birth plan?

have you done much reading about birth? we can all tell you our own plans and experiences, but it is really good if you understand a bit more about how labour works, and how different things can affect it. for instance, being immobile can make labour slower, more painful and can make pushing a lot harder work.

epidural takes your birth into a different territory than one where you use water , TENS or gas and air for pain relief.

obviously , a safe delivery is the outcome everyone wants, but it is really good , IMO, ot understand how to make labour and birth more empowered and more of a process that you are aware of , rather than being swept along with everything.
