Hi, I’m 7 weeks pregnant and feel like I’m on deaths door. All day nausea, strong food aversions, sick after eating, strong sense of smell and awful heartburn. Ordered some sickness bands to try but if these don’t work I’ll go to the GP for some medicine. Anyone else feeling the same?

@Aaliyahrae I'm really sorry for not posting a helpful response with regards to experience of helping morning sickness
im 6 weeks not suffering from any sickness.
I wanted to say tho, have you tried ginger? I believe it's also recommended in pregnancy for nausea and sickness.
You can buy it in pill form or some pregnancy supplements already have ginger in it.
While I can't speak in the pregnancy department. I suffer from horrendous travel sickness and ginger really eases it

Hi! I’ve tried ginger and it didn’t do a thing except leave a nasty taste in my mouth - thanks though! I spent weeks worried about having no nausea and last week it hit me like a ton of bricks.

If you are really struggling, go to the gp. I suffered for about 3 weeks before making the call and they were super quick to help.

Probably not great news but still experiencing sickness at 17 weeks but no where near where I was pre antisickness.

Get yourself to the GP, it could be hyperemisis.

I was in the same boat as you and still on anti sickness tablets at 14+1 but at least I can function and go to work. The doctors are really helpful so it is worth getting an appointment.

Thanks guys, what medicine did the doctor give you? I feel so unbelievably weak. I’ve lost 9lb in a week 😩

poor you. I had Cyclizine from the gp and that took the edge off but didn’t stop it. It was weeks 6-20 for me and it does get a lot better. Or you get better at managing it. I found eating early in the morning before I got out of bed helped.

@Aaliyahrae I’ve had buccal and cyclezine. If you genuinely can’t keep anything down they’ll give you buccal as it dissolves in your mouth so no need to swallow. It’s a big help but I found once I wasn’t being physically sick regularly it wasn’t doing much and I kept dry retching so they then gave my cyclezine and as someone else has said it takes the edge off but doesn’t cure you. I found it quite difficult to swallow the tablets initially but they’re ok now. I’ve also got the biggest bottle of gaviscon on prescription but I can’t say it’s really helped with anything yet.

Nynm23 · 20/11/2023 20:46

Buccastem - they go up under your lip so less risk of chucking them up

Also agree with @lucya66 get some carbs or even sugar into you as soon as you can apparently (from midwife) low blood sugar in the morning can make it worse

Aaliyahrae · 20/11/2023 20:50

Thank you all! I literally cannot put anything in my mouth without heaving and crying. I can’t even take any prenatal vitamins which is upsetting me so much because I know I need them. I can cope with being sick but I just need a medicine that will stop me from having this 24/7 hungover feeling!

@Aaliyahrae if that is the case, you are probably dehydrated and won’t be consuming enough calories which will show up in urine test.

Call the GP tomorrow and give yourself some relief 💞
