Early pregnancy - previous ectopic

I had an ectopic in 2022, this year I’ve tried to conceive again and thankfully have fallen pregnant. Is anybody else super paranoid at any twinge / pain anything… with the ectopic I’ve never felt pain like it! This time I’m at 5.5 weeks and have only had some twinge feelings and a few pains but everytime it happens I send myself spiralling with anxiety. Luckily I can have a scan on the NHS at 6.5 weeks but waiting till then is so stressful. Just wanting to hear other people with similar symptoms, it’s so hard not being able to tell anyone x

Tentative congratulations on your pregnancy, OP. I know how stressful it is in those first couple of weeks until the scan. I was pregnant nine months after my ectopic ended and felt more confident about the second pregnancy but still obsessed over every twinge. Was told by the lovely nurse at that early scan it was likely gas in my bowel. Which was mildly embarrassing but reassuring!

All very best wishes to you.

Thank you so much, it’s so hard not to look into every scan and pain and believe the worst! Trying my best but some days are very hard at the moment x

Congratulations on your pregnancy ❤️ those first few weeks are really hard. I fell pregnant unexpectedly only 4 months after an ectopic (happy surprise, just totally unexpected as it has taken 18 months and fertility treatment to conceive the first time). The waiting between finding out, and that first scan was pretty much torture. Like you I second guessed every little ache and pain, particularly as the site of my ectopic hadn't fully healed so I could very much feel where it had been. I was convinced it was another ectopic, happily in my case I was wrong and I'm now 28w. I hope yours turns out well as well. Try and give yourself some mental space if you can, remind yourself that period type cramps are totally normal, and that it's more likely than not there is nothing wrong x

Thank you so much for sharing. It’s hard because I’m only having “positive” pregnancy symptoms but the cramps/twinges are really throwing me off. So glad to hear everything went well with you xx

Oh yeah, it's really tough being pregnant after an ectopic. I had a scan at 5+3 to check this pregnancy's location. EPU scanned me again at 7+3 and found the heartbeat which was reassuring.

Lots of women go on to have successful pregnancies. My EPU doctor was one of two children born to his mother after an ectopic and when I had my surgery last year one of the nurses had two children after her ectopic.

Thank you!! So reassuring, how did your scan go at 5 weeks? Could they just see the sack? Xx

They saw the gestational sac at yolk sac at 5+3 and confirmed that the pregnancy was in the uterus. They also told me which ovary I ovulated from.

At 7+3 they saw the baby, the heartbeat and the gestational sac.

Hi @Wilki2206 - having had surgyer for an ectopic over Christmas, my first period and considering TTC vs waiting to fully heal - wondering how this pregnancy turned out for you? Did everything turn out OK? I hope you don't mind me asking.
